Vitamin D advice?

At my last blood test, my combined vitamin D level was very high (outside of the lab’s range) and I was told to stop taking supplements for 6 months.

Now that 6 months have passed, should I continue taking supplements to maintain my level? If so, what IU/mg should I take? Would a multivitamin product be sufficient? It’s hard to figure out for me as I have no idea what my levels are like now/how much they have dropped, and I’m worried about being deficient again in the future.

Have you asked your GP for a vit D test?
Or you could pay for a test. I use Better You.
Depending on the result they advise how much, if any, you need to take and send you free vit D spray to use.

I would have to wait another 6 months as the NHS only test Vit D once per year, so will have to look into private tests thanks.

Just worried as I have read online that vitamin D supplies dramatically drop after you stop taking supplements (50% decrease every two weeks I believe).

I would have thought that if there is a red flag such as hypervitaminosis D, it would be normal to test it again well before 12 months and possibly check the calcium levels as well.
Were you advised to reduce your calcium-rich foods ?

But how much were you taking? Recommendations vary between 600-1000 UI for safe levels. These can change if there are medical conditions.

Now it is winter in UK, so now much sunshine around but coming March, if you sit for 15-20 minutes in the sun at lunch with as much bare skin as you can until you turn slightly pinkish without burning you get your vitamin D in a safer way than supplement.
