Last Tuesday I started getting aching in my chest and a cough.
It then went to where my lungs were.
Aching really bad about 8-10 crying it was that painful.
I couldn't turn over in bed and move.
Walking was difficult.
Went to walk in and nurse didn't examine me just took my temp and said it's a muscle strain.
Last night I started coughing up phlegm with streaks of blood in.
If I put my hand on my Lung it doesn't hurt as much.
Thankfully today the pain isn't as bad but I'm coughing up phlegm still (no blood today ) and sneezing again.
It's deffo not a muscle ..would I seem like a horrible person for going back and disagreeing with nurse ?

No, go to the GP and get antibiotics. You're coughing up blood ffs Confused

I’d say you just have a horrible virus, no need to go back to the surgery. Go to bed. I was incredibly ill last week and ended up in hospital as I’m 8 months pregnant and they wanted to check me over. I felt like death tbh and they were worried it was sepsis but no infection was found so I pretty much spent the week in bed taking paracetamol when I could. Miserable, but no need for a doctor. Poor dh has now come down with it too. There’s an awful lot going round where we are atm, half of dhs work mates are off poorly which is incredibly unusual as normally they all just soldier on.

GP today. No one on here can tell you if it’s a virus, pleurisy or bronchitis, and whether you need treatment or not.

wigglypiggly · 03/02/2019 11:15

It might be muscle strain, it might an infection, we can't really tell you just pop back to the doctor and see what they say. Hope you feel better soon.

greenelephantscarf · 03/02/2019 11:17

yes go back.
it does sound like an infection but might not need antibiotics (most infections are viral)
you may be prescribed inhalers to help coughing and breathing.

Disclaimer - I’m not medically trained!
If you coughed up phlegm with streaks of blood in, that would suggest that you have coughed enough to irritate the lining of your lungs, suggesting at best, a nasty virus, or maybe chest infection, bronchitis, or something like that.
It’s not the same as coughing up lots of blood. So I wouldn’t worry unduly, but if you have a history of chest infections or you have asthma or anything else that means your lungs are more susceptible then definitely worth another visit to the GP.
Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Yeah I thought possibly a viral infection as I felt sickly too and freezing cold (but it's Baltic outside too)
Didn't want the GP to think I'm a a hypochondriac.
There's loads of virus knocking around this time of year.
My head feels fuzzy too.
Hot drinks and rest I think today

This is not the place to diagnose or make suggestions of what this could or could not be, especially if people are not medically trained.

nocoolnamesleft · 03/02/2019 14:54

I thought you probably needed to be checked out again. Then I saw that you're 8 months pregnant! That means you definitely need to be checked out again, as your immune system is impacted, as is your ability to take full deep breaths. Someone needs to listen to your chest again. Today. It could all be viral. But the situation has changed, and that could be because you're developing a proper chest infection.
