For the past few days I've had a horrible cold- so much snot Hmm. Today I went outside and my top back teeth really started to hurt and since then when I walk the movement of my feet touching the ground iykwim causes them to really throb. Can sinuses do this?

Yes they absolutely can. I'm sorry you're suffering and I hope it passes quickly, although you may have a sinus infection and need antibiotics. Hope that's not the case, but take painkillers, rest and see how you feel by Monday. If there's no real improvement, get an emergency appointment with your GP, if possible. In my experience, dentists won't prescribe antibiotics for sinus issues even though they can cause horrendous toothache.

Oh and just to say, sometimes the pressure in your teeth from sinus pain can be relieved somewhat by flossing thoroughly or using those little interdental brushes. Just something you can try for a bit of relief.

I’m not a dentist but I always get tooth ache with hay fever.

I get this where I had a root removed. When that tooth aches, I know a few days later I'll get a hideous nasal drip down the back of my throat then a load of snot! I will try the flossing trick!

Went to the dentist yesterday as I have had the same . My dentist did every single test going and confirmed it is just sinus. If it's any consolation my brother had terrible sinus pain for years until recently when his dentist realised that the roots of his teeth were growing into his sinuses - ouch!

I have the reverse problem. An upper molar root canal looks iffy on an Xray. No prob yet with root canal tooth. We only found out when the one next to it needed an X-ray. Dentist has told me that if I have any sinus problems on the same side as root canal tooth, I should see him as a matter of urgency as it means tooth is infected and has spread to sinus.

I don't know if this applies in reverse, that sinus infection can spread to tooth, but something to bear in mind.

Last time I went to the dentist I was discussing sinus pain and he agreed it can feel like toothache.

He also told me that part of his training on removing teeth was to never put any pushing force on snapped off root bits in the upper teeth, as some people don't have a layer of bone in between the tooth roots and their sinus cavities and it's perfectly possible to push the root right through! He says he's never been cackhanded enough to do that, but always lives in fear of it because you have to post people off to hospital to have the bit extracted. So there's a thing you probably didn't want to know! Grin
