Help! Ds1 had just poked his friend in the eye with a toy sword!

We've got a cold flannel on it, he can open it, but says it hurts. I can't see anything, but it looks a bit bloodshot.

What should I be looking for???

Well, he says it doesn't hurt anymore. He's gone off to play again (not with swords) after a medicinal chocolate brownie, so I think he's OK.

Did make me realise though, that I have no idea what i should look for for eye injuries apart from the usual, blood, missing bits. Any ideas?

So, no eye injury experts then?

small boys and swords dont mix ime.

Not an expert but have often wondered just how many children really do get their eye poked out every year? I mean I spend a lot of time warning DD1 to be careful with x,y or z or she'll poke someone's eye out! Am i wasting my time?

Similarly - how many children choke to death every year on small toys? And how on earth are we supposed to keep an older DC's tiny toys out of the way of a crawling baby?

ehi pageturner!!!!!!!!!!
no clues about eye injuries though. Just wanted to say hi

Flamesparrow · 03/07/2007 00:04

lmao @ how many children take their eye out!

I want to know the proportion of people who are actually found dead in a ditch - are there really that many ditches around? Surely there is just as high a chance of being "dead in a bus lane".

Not that that helps with pageturner's blinded child in her care

Choking on small toys - have been frantically clearing lego away when I go to my friend's house, today we forgot... DS (who normally runs round her place pulling cds off shelves etc ) sat nice n quietly for ages playing with the lego.

The mouth sized powerball on the other hand went straight in the mouth (and he bit me as I tried to get it out!!! )

Well, child was fine, though I did feel a bit guilty when I had to explain to his dad what had happened . Bloody swords, they don't mix with boys, you're right. These are 8 though, you'd think they'd know better. On the plus side, this is the first time we've had an eye-poking incident in 8.5 years of parenting!

Just hope boy's parents let him come and play again!

Halloooooo Franca!
