Skin tag removal

Since 2 pregnancies and being over weight I have developed a skin tag on my stomach. It’s about 1cm and awful. How do I get rid of it as dontvwant to waste a doctor’s precious time.

I too have one I want to remove. It seems some beauticians offer it as well as some cosmetic doctors. The cost is usually around £100.

Your local fe college might have a health and beauty salon where they do this kind of thing v cheaply.

(I cut them off. They bleed horrendously but don't grow back. )

Can you tie thread around it? My mum does that to cut the circulation off and it eventually dies and falls off

I read somewhere that you can tie a piece of fine string around the base of the skin tag, which will cut of the blood supply. Apparently the skin tag will fall off after a few days.

I can't help thinking this is a really bad idea, though - wouldn't there be a chance of infection? As tempting as it would be to do it yourself, I reckon a professional is the only sensible answer!

Get some willing sporner fan to tightly tie thread around them. I did this under a week ago and my neck one disappeared last night. I took the wet plaster off after a bath (I'd forgotten pre bath) and it had vanished! 🤢
I have another one dying as I type. Hopefully it'll be gone two in the next day or two.

I cut one off and it did grow back! It was on my face, above my cheekbone and very annoying.

I mentioned it to my Dr when I was seeing him for something else and he offered to cauterise (sp?) it there and then! And that worked.

He was a pretty old school Dr though (and great!) Can't imagine my new Dr doing that though, I don't think it's a standard service!

@RedPandaFluff you are correct about the risk of infection but not much more than a trip to the doctors where they just slice them off. You must keep the area clean and covered with a fresh, clean plaster every day. Maybe a dab of Germolene too just in case.

Cotton! We've done this several times. Tie at the base, it will die and fall off within a few days.

Yes tie at the base and it’ll fall off after couple of days. You can buy kits online that have a little device that you can put a little tiny piece of rubber around it and then so it falls off - effectively the same thing/method.

There was a thread about this last year that i was following. I bought a thing from Amazon called a tag band remover. It is tiny little plastic bands and a nozzle thing you put them on with. I have successfully removed 3. Lots of reviews say the tags go black and drop off. The band stops the blood supply. I put a small plaster over them as a few times the band has fallen off.
With the first one after about 10 days the tag was black but still firmly attached. I sterilized some nail scissors (pan of boiling water) and snipped it off at the base just under the band. No pain and no blood at all. I have now removed 3. The other 2 i snipped off with sterilized scissors after 4/5 days of the bands being on.
It was really easy and i am a complete wuss about anything like that.

I had one on my thigh... it sort of thrombosed and died/fell off by itself. Grim.
