Skin tag removal

Since 2 pregnancies and being over weight I have developed a skin tag on my stomach. It’s about 1cm and awful. How do I get rid of it as dontvwant to waste a doctor’s precious time.

I too have one I want to remove. It seems some beauticians offer it as well as some cosmetic doctors. The cost is usually around £100.

Your local fe college might have a health and beauty salon where they do this kind of thing v cheaply.

(I cut them off. They bleed horrendously but don't grow back. )

Goodmum1234 · 19/01/2019 09:21

Thank you. I have thought about cutting but not brave enough to do it

Can you tie thread around it? My mum does that to cut the circulation off and it eventually dies and falls off

GrumpyGoose · 19/01/2019 09:24

I need to do one on my neck but am being too wimpy to do so

RedPandaFluff · 19/01/2019 09:25

I read somewhere that you can tie a piece of fine string around the base of the skin tag, which will cut of the blood supply. Apparently the skin tag will fall off after a few days.

I can't help thinking this is a really bad idea, though - wouldn't there be a chance of infection? As tempting as it would be to do it yourself, I reckon a professional is the only sensible answer!

Dental floss diy

Get some willing sporner fan to tightly tie thread around them. I did this under a week ago and my neck one disappeared last night. I took the wet plaster off after a bath (I'd forgotten pre bath) and it had vanished! 🤢
I have another one dying as I type. Hopefully it'll be gone two in the next day or two.

timetostepup · 19/01/2019 09:29

I cut one off and it did grow back! It was on my face, above my cheekbone and very annoying.

I mentioned it to my Dr when I was seeing him for something else and he offered to cauterise (sp?) it there and then! And that worked.

He was a pretty old school Dr though (and great!) Can't imagine my new Dr doing that though, I don't think it's a standard service!

TheLostTargaryen · 19/01/2019 09:29

@RedPandaFluff you are correct about the risk of infection but not much more than a trip to the doctors where they just slice them off. You must keep the area clean and covered with a fresh, clean plaster every day. Maybe a dab of Germolene too just in case.

loveyoutothemoon · 19/01/2019 14:36

Cotton! We've done this several times. Tie at the base, it will die and fall off within a few days.

brick15 · 19/01/2019 14:41

Yes tie at the base and it’ll fall off after couple of days. You can buy kits online that have a little device that you can put a little tiny piece of rubber around it and then so it falls off - effectively the same thing/method.

messyhousetidymind · 19/01/2019 17:14

Ask the pharmacist in boots for the freezing stuff

I froze mine hurt like a b#%*#

Really glad I did though as was really annoying

Are you 100% sure it's a tag though

Bookridden · 19/01/2019 20:04

How tightly do you tie them?

shewholikeslipstick · 19/01/2019 20:09

Very tight, otherwise it won't be successful.

smartiecake · 19/01/2019 20:12

There was a thread about this last year that i was following. I bought a thing from Amazon called a tag band remover. It is tiny little plastic bands and a nozzle thing you put them on with. I have successfully removed 3. Lots of reviews say the tags go black and drop off. The band stops the blood supply. I put a small plaster over them as a few times the band has fallen off.
With the first one after about 10 days the tag was black but still firmly attached. I sterilized some nail scissors (pan of boiling water) and snipped it off at the base just under the band. No pain and no blood at all. I have now removed 3. The other 2 i snipped off with sterilized scissors after 4/5 days of the bands being on.
It was really easy and i am a complete wuss about anything like that.

I had one on my thigh... it sort of thrombosed and died/fell off by itself. Grim.
