1st time mum would really appreciate some advice. LO (6 months) woke up with a big watery poo which smelled a bit wrong. I, stupidly, gave her breakfast - mango and banana- and two milk feeds since and at 3pm there was another big watery poo. Since then I have held off on everything barr a bit of dry bread and water. What is the best was to treat throughout the evening and night and when should I start to get worried? x

i would continue with her milk feeds or she could become dehydrated.i think the current advice is to carry on with formula.you could try diluting the feed down so it's mostly water.can you give dirolyte? can't remember what age it's suitable from.

(don't give her any more solids atm imo)

I think hydration is the most important thing LaBoheme. I seem to remember my Doctor telling me to make up my formula using half the amount of powder I would generally use. I think don't give any dairy, stay well clear of fruit. Is your DD still having wet nappies?

LaBoheme · 30/06/2007 17:54

ah - ok Mum said to hold off on everything....
ummm nappies seem to be v runny with poo and presumably wee but no just wee ones if that makes sense. Gosh this is going to be a difficult night....

not too bad then.i would give her her normal formula.if she poos again then try watering it down so 2 parts water to 1 part formula.

CorrieDale · 30/06/2007 18:11

hold off on food, certainly. But definitely keep her hydrated. Dioralyte should only be given to babies between 3 mo and 1 yo "under medical supervision".

LaBoheme · 30/06/2007 18:55

ok - i use ready-made how shall i dilute it?
