Really worried

I hope someone here can help. This is also a bit embarrassing hence being on an online forum. I have also booked a gp appointment for Monday.
The last day after showering I noticed a large, grape size lump on the top part of my vagina, not in it but on the labia majora. I don’t think it’s that cyst that begins with a b... (can’t remember the name) as that seems to happen in a different area. It’s more near the top beside the em.... lips(sorry!!).
It definitely wasn’t there the day before, I am sure of this. It went down a good bit since so day two but I made the mistake of googling and now obsessing about Vulva cancerSad.
I suffer with health anxiety which was actually a lot better recently but now I’m fixating on this. I have the whole weekend before I see my dr and I just don’t want to be freaking out.
I know I sound pathetic but does anyone have experience of cysts in this area?

Are you thinking about a Bartholin's cyst? They do form on the labia and can come up quite quickly. Is it painful at all? Does it feel part of the labia or can you feel around the whole of the lump?

I understand about the health anxiety and how easy it is to catastrophise the smallest things but do try not to Google as people only report on the worst cases. They never write a blog about a lump that was found that turned out to be nothing.

Emmwtfisthis2 · 18/01/2019 10:23

It’s not painful unless I am at it. I thought those cysts were more lower down like nearer the bum( sorry again). This is very much the top, I can feel around it and it sort of feels rubbery 🤢 It was a lot bigger but I am still worried as it’s still there. It doesn’t look like anything, no head etc...

Shameless bump for anyone else who might have some knowledge of this kind of thing

Honestly it sounds like a Batholins cyst.
Vulval cancers do not manifest as a rapidly growing lump. Vulval cancers in the main are are slow growing ulcers, usually after a long period of a pre-malignant condition called Leukoplakia ( not all Leukoplakia’s become cancers, before anyone panics!). The usually reason women go to the doctor is due to severe itching and/or pain.
Please see you GP about this. Try not to be so embarrassed about your female anatomy (easier said than done, I know) but you share those bits with approx 50% of the population and your GP has seen it all before!

I don't know if they are Bartholin's cysts or not, but I have quite regularly had lumps just where you describe. I imagine that is what they are. Sometimes they get very painful and a little red, but usually they are just lumps. They seem some months to be related to my cycle. I find that a bath with saltwater can help, or applying a (not boiling!) hot flannel. I think the changing/shrinking size is a good sign that is what this is most likely to be. Sorry you're suffering with anxiety, I understand the feeling.

Thank you so much for your replies, I feel very reassured. I will definitely be going to my gp appointment regardless as always better to be safer.
I have just never had anything like this before so was a bit unnerved.

I seem to get them quite a bit. Once I squeezed one and yucky stuff came out. I leave well alone and they have always gone down in a few days before I have managed to see a doctor.

Fashionista101 · 18/01/2019 14:05

I get these quite a bit Confusedin the same place. I always have a soak in a hot bath and then operate/squeeze. Honestly they kill but I kinda love it. You'll be fine I'm sure. But probably shouldn't mess with it. What about a dettol bath? Or Epsom salt?

Emmwtfisthis2 · 18/01/2019 16:13

It doesn’t seem to have a head or a point to squeeze...
Definitely feeling a bit better about it although will still get it looked at.
How long might it be there . Could it take a week to clear ? Thanks again

I had this. I thought the same - a very odd place for a lump. Googled it and was worried too - it was a cyst and went down by itself after a couple of weeks
