Think it depends on location and nature of the cut . ds ahd his ear glued as therewas no flesh to stitch, it still scarred. In an area where the flesh has to move such as arund the jawline a stitch may hold better.

Ds2 had his head glued but his lip stitched. Not much skin on the scalp to stitch. Lip cut was v deep

Is it to do with whether the doctor did GCSE Textiles (aka sewing) or design and technology?

I was told the glue is much more expensive........so only used if needed IYSWIM but that can include places where a scar would be least desirable, on young children so they don't have to use an aneasthetic, I also assume each is more suitable for a different kind of cut as suggested already.

DD1 had a cut to her forehead. A & E said they would glue it is it would be less likely to leave a scar. Then they told me they had run out of glue. They steri stripped it but I wasn't happy and took her back two days later and they had had a glue delivery!

DS2 has had both his head wounds glued. One was fairly deep and gaping. I think it's fairly common to glue children

Glueing is used where there's not a lot of subcutaneous fat i.e. forehead, shin. We glue & steristrip, also leaves a neater scar. If you stitch you usually have to give a local anasthetic which really stings.

Ah, but according to DS2 (then 5) the glue made his head feel "boiled like a sausage" Not the second time though because they used the "non stinging glue" which is exactly the same as the other glue only administered by nurses who lie
