Could this be a seizure

I’m confused as to what happened last night and I’m wondering if it was some type of small seizure. I’ve not been feeling right since Tuesday afternoon, really tired and legs felt like led when I tried to go for a light jog. I had an early night, slept well but was still really tired yesterday.

When I woke yesterday my chest felt a bit strange, similar to a small elephant sitting on it. This feeling continued all day along with a racing heart beat and a really weird feeling of light headed ness and sort of out of body feeling.

I went to bed as I felt really unwell come early evening, I can’t describe what was wrong it was just a feeling of being really “off” and part of me was scared to go to sleep as I felt like I wasn’t going to wake up. I also felt sick by this point. I did fall into a light sleep as I remember dreaming on and off and was woken with my whole body feeling like pins and needles and I think it was moving. I don’t think jerking as it didn’t feel like violent movement but it felt enough to wake me and scare me.

Following this episode I had a headache and was wide awake for a couple of hours. I couldn’t walk in a straight line, almost felt like I was floating. Does anyone have any advise? I don’t know whether to see GP as it all sounds so weird and part of me wonders if i dreamt it.

I should say I’m under investigation at the moment for other neurological symptoms (left sided pins and needles in hand and feet, chest pains and numbness)

Thanks

Please ring 111 for advice now. What you report sounds quite concerning and needs to be investigated asap.

Most people aren’t aware they are having a seizure, although if they are epileptic they will know afterwards that they have had one. Your symptoms don’t sound like a seizure, but you’ve listed several very worrying symptoms- the elephant on your chest and the racing heart. I’d get yourself along to A&E this morning. I’m A&E doctor.

I experienced something similar and then googled which left me believing I might have had a seizure and left me totally freaked out. I saw the gp and he ruled it out and decided that it had been an anxiety attack. I had it happen three times and its horrible.

I'm still not totally certain if it was a panic attack, but I'm also deficient in vit B12 and I think it might be linked. Pins and needles is a common symptom of low vit b12, as is confusion, poor sleep, breathlessness, vision issues, exhaustion, so something to look into.

Thanks all for responding, I feel ok now - still a bit floaty but think that’s maybe also lack of sleep. I have been really stressed with work so maybe anxiety? Although I’ve been stressed before and never felt this extreme?

Todayisbetter - I’ve been to GP a few times about all this and am having a brain And neck MRI next week. I’ve had a clear ECG and deep lung blood clot check (January 2018) as I had left sided chest pain. I still get this every few days - stabbing pain. Do you think it’s worth me getting checked out again? To be honest I’m getting to the stage I worry it’s all in my head, I’ve been incredibly agitated this week and maybe I’m subconsciously worried about it all.
Thanks all for responding, sounds like it wasn’t a seizure so that’s good

Also I’ve had so many blood tests - it’s not vit deficiencies, anemia, thyroid etc

Heart attack? Please get medical advice in RL.

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 17/01/2019 06:20

I just read your post to my DH, and he has some training in medical emergencies due to him working in law enforcement. To him, it sounds like you may have had a cardiac episode or small heart attack. Heart attacks do present themselves differently in men then in women. I would seek emergency care (it is better to be safe than sorry) and not wait to see your GP. Good luck! Flowers

I’m only 34- is it possible? Thank you for responding- I’ll get checked out, I’m only going to worry otherwise which probably doesn’t help!

Unfortunately, even otherwise healthy 20 yrs olds can have heart attacks. The best thing for you to do now, is try not to stress about it (I know, easier said then done), and distract yourself with movies, television shows, books, shopping, spending time with friends or loved ones. Talk about your fears. Better out than in. Do anything to relax as much as possible before you get seen. I'm not a doctor, so it colds be something else, but the symptoms warrant enough urgency to get it looked into asap. Just take a deep breath, slowly, in through your nose, out through your mouth. Repeat 5 or 6 times. Listen to some relaxing music, try to get a good nights sleep tonight. Play something on in the background or have a fan or white noise machine on and concentrate on that, so your head isn't full of worry. All my best to you. Flowers

You mentioned neurological conditions - has anyone mentioned fnd? What you are experiencing sounds like what my partners symptoms are like and he was diagnosed with that last year

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 17/01/2019 07:09

Op, I was just about to turn in and I can't fall asleep for worrying about you.

My new advice is this; drop what your doing and get to the emergency room quick, or whatever you may called it there. Don't wait for an appt. Get it checked now. It may be nothing, but it may be something and if it is, it can get worse as time passes, Please do this. I pray it's nothing, But I won't be able to sleep knowing that I didn't give you the best possible advice I could. Time is of the essence.

todayisbetter · 17/01/2019 07:22

OP, you’ve posted a list of potentially life threatening symptoms. You’ve had several people including an A&E doctor (me) tell you to get checked out and then you come back with a back story which basically says I’ve had it all checked out before/am still being investigated. That may be the case, but what you’ve asked about is potentially life threatening symptoms that you have right now. No medical practitioner who values their registration, and doesn’t have the benefit of your medical notes, is going to tell you to do anything other than seek medical attention IRL (as in a real person, not 111).
Only you can decide whether to seek that advice or not.......but I don’t see how waiting for responses from random strangers on MN is going to help. I see people like you every single day, and I’d rather see you a hundred times than hear that you’d died because you didn’t want to ‘bother’ the doctors again. It’s not a bother, its my job to ensure you aren’t seriously ill, treat you if you are and reassure you if you aren’t. Please go.

Oldmum55 · 17/01/2019 10:45

Agree with A&E doctor above. I've recently been seen in the emergency department and I can praise the care and professionalism. You'll be reassured if nothing else.

SofiaAmes · 17/01/2019 17:11

Please watch video about what a heart attack can look like in a woman. It's not the same as in men.
