because they sure as hell aren't listening to me when I tell them!

Both have a sickness bug, both are complaining they are hungry, both are asking for food every 5 minutes....

They are driving me MAD!

TrinityRhino · 30/06/2007 08:30

how old are they?

LadyTophamHatt · 30/06/2007 08:31

sorry rogue comma alert in title.....

OP posts:
Twiglett · 30/06/2007 08:32

give them some toast and a bowl

LadyTophamHatt · 30/06/2007 08:32

8 and 6 FGS...you'd think they 'd listen to me atthat age but no.

I feel like banging their heads togetehr.

*note lack of sympathy from me...I really have reached the end of my tether with their maoning about food.

they've both been over the toilet puking this morning and during the night.
both have a bowl.

neither is having toast.

BreeVanDerCamp · 30/06/2007 08:34

Ds had this, the thing is they do appear to be frantically hungry in between puking sessions. We compromised on dry toast with jam on it, the sugar in the fruit perked him up a little.

BreeVanDerCamp · 30/06/2007 08:35

Bree notes comment about toast and slinks off back to Wisteria Lane........

Twiglett · 30/06/2007 08:36

well some gps advise not to restrict diet when puking

and they are both starving

so what's the worst that can happen .. they eat plain toast and they puke

or they don't eat and they keep nagging you cos they're starving

if it was me I'd give them some toast .. how do you know if bug is over and their bodies are telling them they need food

LadyTophamHatt · 30/06/2007 08:38

I just told the they can have some at 9am if theyre isn't any more sick.

its only 23 minutes away.

you'd think I'd told thme it 23 days.

OP posts:
LadyTophamHatt · 30/06/2007 08:39

i don't want to clean up any more sick though twig.

BreeVanDerCamp · 30/06/2007 08:39

God I hate being hungry.............

Bree legs it....

SomethingIncrediblyWitty · 30/06/2007 08:40

Um...give them a small piece of toast.
They should only be sickthe once extra anyway and then it'll teach them a valuable lesson. I don't mean that in a nasty way - this is how kids learn isn't it? Obviously excepting learning about fire etc.

LadyTophamHatt · 30/06/2007 08:45

ok, you've all made me feel guilty for staving them.

the toast is in the toaster.

BreeVanDerCamp · 30/06/2007 08:52

Yum... can I have Bovril on mine ?

BreeVanDerCamp · 30/06/2007 08:53

It comes back the same colour it went down if it is any help.

Twiglett · 30/06/2007 08:53

LTH .. why do you have to clean up sick though? .. even my 3 year old knows that if she feels sick she runs to the toilet and leans over it ...

teach your children if they feel sick to go to the toilet

or give them a bowl

(loving collective mn guilt over toast and starving children)

SomethingIncrediblyWitty · 30/06/2007 09:07

Bowls. Yes. We have one kept in the bathroom in case anyone comes over all sicky in the night - it's a bit gross to stick your head down the loo, so i prefer to avoid it if poss. We also use mixing bowls from the kitchen - and disinfect them afterwards of course (eeeeeeeew if not!).

LadyTophamHatt · 30/06/2007 09:23

Twig, because 9x out of 10 some of it misses the bowl/toilet.

toast has stayed down so far.

OP posts:
SomethingIncrediblyWitty · 30/06/2007 09:35

Ok, i admit, we have had that problem here too. Fortunately so far, in nine years only one dd has been ill at a time

TinyGang · 30/06/2007 09:57

Toast is the best bet.

My dc are the same though. Once dd, coming down with a bug, was terribly sick - just as it was dinner time then 5 minutes later was asking for her dinner!. No no no!!

I am nothing like that - the mere thought of food if I've been sick is unbearable.

Hope your boys feel better soon and no-one else in the family catches it.

Twiglett · 30/06/2007 10:42

they're 8 and 6 though .. they should be able to hit the bowl / loo .. they just need their head lower

ok this is mean .. but make them help clean it up .. at least threaten to .. they'll soon learn

MatNanPlus · 30/06/2007 11:20

Tiny Gang,

I'm like your dd, once i've done the deed i'm ready to eat a proper dinner.

3andnomore · 30/06/2007 11:31

Just to bring in another thought...it actually really is painful to puke when your stomach is totally empty, so, in a way, even if they puke the toast or wotnot up again, it won't hurt as bad.

LadyTophamHatt · 30/06/2007 11:50

toast stayed down.

now can you all collectively cross your fingers that ds3, ds4, me and DH have escaped the bug.

twig, yesterday ds1 was being sick in the bowl, I had ds4 in my arms screaming and still had to angle the bowl so it didn't slosh over the side. I think I told him 10000 times to be sickin the loo rather than the bowl if he knows its coming up....he still does it in the bowl even when actaully in the toilet!!!
Ds2 did manage to get it all the the bowl during the night though, which I'm soooo glad about as he's on the top bunk!

OP posts:
3andnomore · 30/06/2007 12:04

we use buckets as sick bowls...deeper, lol...
and crossing all my fingers and toes that you escape it...just not pleasant at all....
