Fruit!

Morning all,

I've never been a fan of fruit (other than the less obvious ones - cucumber, avocado).

I would like to start eating fruit, but despise the texture.

Any advice on how to get the nutrients without eating them whole?

I can blend them but I don't like the taste or the texture with all the bits in.

Thanks in advance x

There are a lot of different fruit textures. Do you dislike them all? Pineapple is quite different to other fruits. What about figs?

Hi Doyoumind,

I have never tried figs, so may give them a go. I dislike any sort of pith, and do not like the sweetness of them all. I eat plenty of veg, along with avo and cucumber. Do we think this will be enough nutrients for the next 8 months or should I grow a pair and start eating proper fruit?

Thanks Smile

Fresh figs are very sweet when ripe and have lots of little pips so I'm not sure how you would get on with them. Would you eat baked apples or poached peaches? They are more nutritious fresh rather than cooked though. Rhubarb is more vegetable like and isn't naturally sweet but obviously has to be cooked. Is melon not a similar texture to cucumber?

Why do you want to start eating fruit if you don't like it? If you're eating lots of vegetables, what do you feel your diet is deficient in?

I like dried apricots but I think you'd find them too sweet. Is there a reason not to eat nuts instead?

no need to eat fruit if you don't like it.
assuming you eat vegetables and vegetable-mimicing-fruit (cucumber, tomato etc)

Thanks everyone.

It's my first pregnancy and I just assumed it would be better to eat fruit. Thanks to this wonderful platform I will just up my cucumber and avo intake.

I have been feasting on vegetables (incl. sweet potato) for lunch, and then have a lean meat or fish for dinner with a salad.

Even at 3+ weeks (test), which I think is 5-6 in doctor terms, my belly is growing - i think this means I am overeating Blush

Thanks again everyone xx

@Slidex you're not overeating, with my first i could hardly eat anything for the first 12weeks, and belly so swollen i thought i would be huge, but after 13weeks the swelling went down and i was able to do my size 8 jeans back up. Then at 17weeks my belly started to pop as a proper pregnancy bump.

I am now pregnant with my second and its the same, although i have started showing earlier.

Please dont worry.
