Bio washing powder skin irritation?

Hi. At what age is it OK to stop using non-bio washing powder for babes' clothes? We've been using non-bio, but now dd is weaning are finding it just isn't cutting through the plastered food. Hope I don't sound too precious about dd's skin - but want to have Daz clean whites without a yukky rash. Thanks.

I use non-bio too, as it makes me and the baby itch otherwise! I'll stick to it, I think. As a user of washable nappies, I find the best thing is to scrub out any stains immediatly with Vanish, rinse, and then wash in non-bio as usual. I use white vinegar with a few drops of lavender oil instead of fabric softener so they stay absorbant. If this works on nuclear newborn poo stains, I'm sure it would be worth a try on food stains too! If you don't fancy using Vanish, how about bicarbonate of soda?

Thanks Poo2 - I'll give the Vanish a go...

Hi chonky. I think it's just how sensitive your/their skin is. My littlin is in cloth but have had to use bio since day one (no choice as only thing in the market). He's never had a rash except for a little heat rash which clears up within minutes of getting back under the AC. Give a few bio's a try, you might be able to find a happy medium.

Thanks kiwicath - perhaps I'll try it & if she reacts then try the Vanish approach.
