Lump in breast - like a tiny grain of rice

Found a tiny lump - as title says it's like a tiny grain of rice. Not round etc.

I had a mammogram about 3 years ago due to another lump (that was just a fatty lump).

My mum has lots of calcification lumps in her breasts.

My son died of a brain tumour nearly 5 years ago. My mum died from cancer 4 years ago. I catastrophise internally, ie I presume that I am destined to get cancer, but on the outside I'm trying to be sensible.

I don't know why I'm writing - maybe to give me the push to make a gp appointment.

I had a small lump recently picked up at a breast mri. Because there was increased blood flow, it was highly suspicious. A biopsy showed it to be a fibroadenoma, à benign lump. It felt and still feels oblong instead of round.
Pick up the phone and call your gp and ask for an appointment. Most lumps are benign but they still need to be checked.
I am very sorry about your son and your mum.

Min Please ring your GP - you won't feel OK until you do.

Much love. Flowers

Best to get it checked OP, hopefully it's nothing and will put your mind at rest but do check all the same Flowers

You're not going to stop worrying about it by ignoring it, so you might as well phone your GP, tell them over the phone you've found a lump, they'll get you an appointment as soon as possible (and probably overbook just to get you in because they know it's so important), it gets checked out and then you know.

Petalflowers · 15/01/2019 21:58

Go to your gp and get it checked out, if only for your peace of mind.

DramaAlpaca · 15/01/2019 22:00

Please get yourself checked out min. Hope all is well Flowers

I recently had a breast lump. Put it off for 3 or 4 months because I was terrified of investigating it because of the cancer fear. I did thankfully make a go appointment went for a biopsy and diagnosed with a fibro adenoma (benign) big relief. Most breast lumps are non cancerous. Worse case scenario it is cancer if its the size of a grain of rice it'll be early stages and wholly unlikely to have spread which means you'd be extremely likely to make a full recovery. Please go to your gp for peace of mind. I'm truly sorry to hear about your mum and dear son Flowers

Thank you all. I will make a gp appointment to set my mind at ease.

Definitely get it checked, but by way of reassurance, I found something very similar a while back. GP referred me for an ultrasound - she was fairly sure it was ok but had to be 100% sure.
Turned out to be.....nothing! Not a cyst or anything, nothing showed up, just breast tissue!
Good luck - it’s a horrible process but only by going through it will you have peace of mind.

KingIrving · 06/02/2019 08:20

@minmooch how are? Have you been seen? 💐

minmooch · 06/02/2019 12:49

@KingIrving no I have not done anything about it yet. I now can't find what I found earlier. It's coming up to my son's anniversary in 3 weeks. I am just getting through the days until that anniversary passes. I will then make an appointment.

Thank you for checking up on me.

I am so very sorry for your son. It must be a very difficult time.
Hugs from Australia. Flowers

@minmooch

So sorry for your son and mum, I can’t even begin to imagine how you must be feeling now with the anniversary approaching.

magimedi · 06/02/2019 22:16

Min - I think Will would be telling you not to fuss about the date & get yourself sorted.

But I am hoping the fact you can't find the lump is that is was hormonal & not a worry - but you still need to get it checked.

Much love. Flowers
