Could I have dislocated my shoulder?

Had s dodgy shoulder for years but it's been agony this weekend and just noticed that there's a bulge at the front and it's sagging - it couldn't be dislocated could it?

Could I have dislocated my shoulder?

First one bad one, second one ok one - am I imagining it?

I'm alone with kids (although oldest is 15) so really don't want to have to leave the house. I have no idea how I could have done it - equally it's really painful (but not scream out loud painful)

DH is in horrendous agony when he does his in. As in sobbing & 5 types of painkiller don't help (morphine etc).

So I doubt it.

Do you have full usual range of movement, just painful?

My mum has just partially dislocated hers and she is in agony. Also the effected shoulder is much lower than the other.

She can’t move her arm at all and it has swollen loads. Do you have any of those symptoms?

Due to the swelling and a broken humourous her shoulder has to stay that way too.

It's a lot lower and I'm lying in bed and can't raise it off the bed.

There's some movement but only in certain directions

That's the dilemma - it's not right and my daughter says it looks odd, it's definitely painful - Co-Codamol hardly touches it, but I'm functioning, looked after the kids ok - just needed a bit of help

Think I'll try the walk in centre tomorrow rather than A&E tonight

Unlikely you've dislocated it if you have some movement and aren't screaming in agony. That doesn't mean that you haven't pulled it or something.

Thanks - I'll definitely leave it then

Saying that when I went to A&E a few days after hurting my hand and they said I was carrying something they told me it definitely wasn't broken - until the X-ray came back - so I know these things aren't always clear cut.

I need to get it checked out as I can't drive or function properly.

Let us know what you find out after visiting clinic.

Lots of things can be painful & need attention that aren't as severe as dislocation. x

Went to the walk in centre who sent me to A&E - 7 hour wait so went to a different hospital!

Not dislocated but x ray showed calcification of the tendon (probably) but need to go to GP to see shoulder specialist. I can't move it at all now :(

Reads like it usually resolves self.
Could explain my long term shoulder pain, too.

ninja · 13/01/2019 19:07

Thanks that's interesting

At the moment standing up I cannot move my arm forward or to the side for more than a cm and I'm in so much pain now I threw up earlier - so hopefully the GP will send me for further investigation ASAP as this is an issue as a single parent particularly!

Sounds like my mum had something similar and ended up with an operation
