Costcochondritis

Does anyone else suffer from this?
I’ve had painful lower ribs on one side for years on and off.
Now it’s spread to the right.
I worry that I’m getting fobbed off and the doctors won’t do any further tests to make sure it is just costochondritis.
I saw the gp yesterday who pressed my ribs which really hurt and they basically just diagnosed there and then.

Just realised I spelt the title wrong.
Hopefully people will know what I mean!

I've had this a couple of times. I ended up at a&e once when heavily pregnant as I could breathe due to the pain. The doctor at the time said all he could offer was paracetamol and it would take 8-12 weeks to abate.

I've had it once again since and again I was only offered paracetamol. The diagnosis was the same as yours in that there was a bit of prodding and that was it.

Sorry not to be more helpful.

I just seem to have it so often. A few weeks of pain and then a week or so without.
And I’m just panicking now it’s spread to both sides. I keep worrying it’s something serious which has spread, rather than just costochondritis. Doesn’t help that there are no real tests, just prodding.
This bout on the right side has been about 8 weeks now on and off. It’s horrible.

I have it, in my case it's related to my fibromyalgia. I have it both sides but worse on the left, it comes and goes but I have pain more often than not. I have various painkillers anyway due to fibro but nothing more offered via my GP, in fact no advice or help at all. I'm just told to "manage it" and pace. I find heat helps so use an electric heated pad when sitting or disposable ones (find them in chemist and poundland for backache and period pain).

Have you tried ibrufen gel? Other options painwise might be a small dose of amitryptilline - might be worth asking your GP again for more pain relief options.

No I’ve not tried the gel.
Will give it a go.
It’s not awful pain if I’m honest.
Just a dull nagging ache constantly.
I’m more worried about it being something more serious and no one realising to be honest!
