PID Pelvic Inflammatory Disease

I’m 6months PP and by now I thought I’d be swanning about enjoying life as a new mum.
Instead I’m still in agony. I have been treated twice for BV which I’ve never had previously and sure I’m into PID territory. Waiting for the next appointment to just tell them to sort it out as countless visits have done little to nothing. My question is, how did you get diagnosis? And how did you get on with the antibiotics. So far all I can see is that one gives you tumours, one can cause brain swelling, another renal toxicity (history of renal issues) and the other seizures. I’m currently ebf so I’m worried about my little one. Please someone shed some light. TIA

Hi, so sorry you're struggling PP.

I had PID PP but took a year and going private to get the diagnosis. GP was reluctant to believe how much pain I was in, she just kept telling me periods, vaginal fluids and cramps are common PP.

The private GP listened to what was said, and actually realised it was a bit more than just PID. I had retained product still which was causing the infection.

Anyway, regarding the antibiotics, I can't remember the 2 I took now but they were very very tough hitting on me. Had to take them for 2 weeks and I felt so much worse before I got better. I took probiotics and ensured I ate really healthy towards the end of those 2 weeks and a week later I felt amazingly better. No more cramps, no more odd bleeding or discharge, no more flooding through every time i had a period.

It is interesting you said about the renal issues though... I haven't connected it before but not long after I started having issues with my bowel and have recently been diagnosed with IBD.

Oh gosh the antibiotics are all have black box warnings. I’m scared to take any and also as ebf will have to pump & dump and trying to build up a bank of milk so far I have two 6oz bags eek! It feels cervical and above, I was taking lots of sb3 probiotics but the bloating irritates me more. Hmmm read up on the antibiotics you took. I think I’m going to try some fermented probiotics as I’ve had so much antibiotics this pregnancy. May help you also? I think the damage they do to gut flora is terrible.
I saw an emergency dr today and he’s given me amoxicillin on the off that it MAY help but didn’t want to pile in undiagnosed, he was very helpful and says I need a scan and to see gp on Monday. I can’t believe you had retained material for a year! Confused May I ask what kind of delivery you had?

Assisted delivery with forceps, both ended up having sepsis too.

I was so ill, I'd always be passing out from pain and being sick but GP kept dismissing me. I should probably have written a complaint. Ice moved area since though and now have a different GP.

Building up milk supply gonna be hard work but you'll do it! Good luck! The more you start trying to pump and save the easier you'll find it becomes.

Sepsis, that’s a scary thought..Shock thank you for your replies, they sounds hugely painful and severe. I had great amounts of pain which are subsiding now.. I thought I was going that way. So I went back, new doctor and been taking the amoxicillin I was given Saturday by the out of hours. Luckily starting to feel a little better painwise. The new doctor seems to think given the improvement that it could be endometriosis. So has referred me to a gyno. Due to lack of temperature and severe deathly symptoms she thinks there may have been some infection, (nothing had shown on past four swabs. I’ve been treated twice for BV. I’ve also had fungal creams twice also) she thinks it’s more than likely endometriosis is present and I should now undergo tests for that. So still awaiting some resolve.
