Any idea what is causing my numb toes?

So a month or two back I realised that my right big toe was a bit numb, odd I thought and put it to the back of my mind. Roll forward and the whole toe is now numb and the left big toe is starting to feel slightly numb as well. I visited my GP who ordered a barrage of blood tests and a Doppler test to check my circulation. Results of the Doppler were fine, as were all the blood tests (vitamin b12, full blood count; thyroid and something else that escapes me) so nothing showing up as concerning.

So I've got to go back and see the GP to decide what to do next but since all straightforward things have been ruled out my mind is starting to go into overdrive worrying about what could be causing it. So does anyone have any ideas? Don't hold back I've been googling and realise that there are some horrible possibilities but I'm keen to know more.

I’ve been having tests because of weird sensations in my arms and hands (and occasionally toes). Sometimes they’re numb, sometimes they feel like they’re burning, sometimes a sort of pins and needles. MS has been mentioned and I’ve had an MRI scan (but the results are taking forever). Before that I had blood tests and an electromyography test ( it that was for my fingers not toes), all of which show nothing.

I totally understand your frustration and worry.

@TowerRingInferno sorry to hear that you also have mystery numbness and tingling as well, I've only got the problem in my toes not fingers as well.

I had pretty much convinced myself that I had developed type 2 diabetes or had vitamin B12 deficiency both of which are relatively straightforward to deal with. So now that my tests are all ok I'm moving into worry mode. Seriously hope neither of us has MS, I suspect I too may have to have an MRI to rule things out but I'm not seeing the GP for the follow up for a bit.

This might sounds ridiculous but you haven't been wearing pointy toed shoes lately have you?

I sometimes get numb toes that can last a god while after wearing unsuitable shoes for a long period of time. Last time was my Christmas do, wore a pair of stilettos for twelve hours flat and my third toe on my left foot has been numb ever since. Gradually feeling better this week.

@Tanfastic I'm an habitual wearer of sensible footwear, I can't walk in anything remotely resembling a pointy toe, and my right big toe has been numb since the summer so if it was shoes it would be back to normal by now.

I've also had recent onset of intermittently numb or tingly fingertips and toes (both hands and feet). I also have shivery sensation through my body (like a chill) a couple of times a day and sometimes tingly tip of tongue.
Have been to GP who ran a battery of blood tests all of which have come back normal.
I have been trying unsuccessfully not to Google and go through period where I convince myself it's MS although read some stuff online yesterday which relates these symptoms to perimenopause. I have definitely been having some hormonal fluctuations (am 44) so am currently trying to convince myself it's that until my GP review next week.
