Pulmonary hypertension

My DM(86) has been recently diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension due to chronic pulmonary thromboembolism.
The doctor wants to do a pulmonary artery catheterization to in order to confirm the diagnosis and decide on an adequate treatment but she refuses to do it.
At the moment she is at home with oxygen but her saturation levels are around 85 (even with oxygen I believe).

Could anyone with experience in this tell me in plain English how dangerous this is if she does not get additional medication (eg vasodilators etc)

many thanks in advance

My mum also has this condition. It's rare and there are only a few specialist hospitals across the country that can treat her for it. Is she getting seen by one of these? The right heart catheter is how they confirm the diagnosis. Please PM me if you want any more information. You will probably find the pulmonary hypertension association website useful, they are the UK charity for people with the condition.
