Nausea twice a month

Just recently I've started feeling really sick twice every month, round about when I'm ovulating and then again a couple of days before my period. I also get a headache and feel tired and lacking in energy and motivation. I'm guessing that, because of the timing, it's got a hormonal cause, but it's a new thing after having trouble-free periods for years. I'm 39 and don't have any other health problems.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I’m sorry to say I have no words of advice but I am suffering with the same thing, realising it’s worse when I’m due to ovulate. Very recently started to suffer but am on new pill so trying to give my body time to adjust as I assume that’s the reason why. May I ask if you use any form of contraception? If so, perhaps you could try changing or not using anything at all (if you’re able to) and see how you feel?

Hocuspocusy thanks for replying, no, I'm not on any hormonal contraception so it can't be that. But my periods have started getting a bit patchy over the last six months and I suspect it's the onset of the menopause, so I wondered if it might be that.

Just fabulous being a woman isn't it???

I wonder if your hormones are in overdrive flinging out eggs in a last chance saloon as peri menopause fast approaches!

poor you, nausea is yuck Sad

Sounds like peri menopause. I had similar for 6 years and wished I'd started HRT sooner. I didn't realise what was happening at the time.

GraceMarks · 30/12/2018 21:04

RandomMess miranda1511 sounds like that's what's happening. I am glad if it means no more periods but thought I might have a few more years yet!

Sadly peri is likely puberty, lasts rather a long time...

I'm experiencing exactly the same and have been for almost a year. All blood tests showing nothing, I got a coil fitted which sorted about accompanying false start bleeding but not the nausea. I keep going back to Dr, the last time I was referred for an abdominal scan, all clear. I am sure it's perimenopause, but nothing showing on blood tests which is annoying because I just to know.

GraceMarks · 30/12/2018 21:56

Fairylight that's interesting, I've had false start bleeding too but I didn't realise that it was an actual thing - I just thought it was another variation on a period! Will have to keep an eye on other symptoms.

I read your original post OP and thought "Oh it's not just me!" it's been happening for the past year BUT I am only 31! I have always had horrendous PMS but this past year has been a different level of horrible.

I have no idea what is going on with my hormones and the last doctor I saw dismissed it as anxiety and gave me some leaflets about counselling after telling me women don't get referred to a gynaecologist (after me asking for a referral) for PMS Angry so giving up on professional help for now I have tried supplements with a fair amount of success, magnesium, calcium, maca root, and floradix (wrong spelling?). Also agnus castus is great but you need to take at least 9 capsules a day to get the proper dose recommended for PMS and it can get pricey.
