Little cluster of spots on back

I'm wondering if anyone has any idea what this could be...

Two days ago I realised I have a small patch of rash/raised spots on my back. They are slightly irritating and very mildly painful if I sit leaning on the area.

It's on my mid back so not irritation from bra strap or trouser waistband.

It's tricky to get a photo of it. The area looks redder to me than the photo shows.

Could be shingles

Maryann1975 · 28/12/2018 23:17

Looks quite similar to when my ds had shingles. I reckon the pharmacist could diagnose them for you save you getting a doctors appointment (there is no treatment for them, I only suggest seeing someone so you know exactly what they are).

Shingles

INeedNewShoes · 28/12/2018 23:28

Thanks to both of you for responding. That's a good idea to ask the pharmacist's opinion.

If it is shingles then you’re contagious and can give people chicken pox. Just in case you’re likely to be around anybody vulnerable/pregnant who hasn’t had it.

Agree shingles.

BrigitsBigKnickers · 28/12/2018 23:35

It does look like shingles I have to say but-
You can only give people chicken pox from shingles if:

They touch the spots( not airborne like with chicken pox)

They haven't had chicken pox.

My DD had this and this is the info the Dr gave me. We were given Zovirax cream and advised to cover it.

INeedNewShoes · 28/12/2018 23:36

Yes, I'll make sure I don't come into contact with any pregnant women or newborns. Luckily where the rash is on my back it'll always be covered anyway.

I just need to decide whether I should see a doctor as the NHS website talks about taking antivirals.

When i had shingles my dr signed me off work for 2 weeks. I wasnt ill but apparently it zaps you and you need rest. He said antivirals only if severe as they make you feel like shit.

INeedNewShoes · 29/12/2018 12:10

Thanks Lem. I've seen a GP today who has confirmed shingles and said same as you re antivirals.
