Just wondered if anyone has had experience of the above vacination? DS2 is nearly 2 and I am really behind on his jabs.

Your thoughts and experiences much appreciated. Plan to start his single jabs soon (same as his older brother) but obviously if he has this new jab not sure how long I will have to wait before he can start the first of his single jabs!?

I don?t want to start a immunization controversy, but I just want to share my experience, better saying my very best friend experience.
Two years ago, her daughter aged 3 developed Leukaemia 3 months after the jab, There were able to date the cellular anomaly to no more than 3 months, corresponding to august when she had her vaccine. I don?t want to start a terror post, but just want to say be careful. Only go if you ds is 500% healthy (not even a running nose, unsettled, disturbed, little cough ? she had a very slight cold ).. Luckily, she survived, and she has been recognised adverse effect from immunization and she is now receiving compensation from the state. But nothing will ever shade the horrors of her illness which lasted almost a year and affected both our families.

This vaccine is quite recent compared to the others, and they are still adjusting the procedures. In the states, they just changed the age range ,and it is now given after 2.

there was a lady on here called amyjade, her little girl died between the age of 1-2 from the disease as the vaccine was not routinely available.....theres always 2 sides to every story!

i was going to pay to have dd done after i heard about amyjades dd but the surgery said they'd be doing them routinely soon so not to worry about paying!

Just to add that ms DS was in hospital in November with pneumonia- caused by Pneumoccocal bacteria. He was just over 2 when the vaccine was brought out, so he did not qualify.

Will never get over the days in hospital it was truely horrendous, and I don't think I will ever get over it.

VACCINATE YOUR CHILD NOW.

Everything has risks assciated with it (even getting out of bed), but bloomin' eck the risk of not vaccinating outweighs the risk of vaccinating 500 million to 1 IMO.

I will also add my experience. Apparently the vaccine also helps cut down on ear infections. DD had about 5 or 6 infections between 1 and 2. DS, who had the PCV because they had been introduced has had NOT ONE. I really do think it has made a difference.

Pooka thats really interesting. My DS since having pneumonia has had recurrent ear infections, about every 6-8 weeks. The Doctor says its because his immune system is low from getting a good battering and he will pick up every infection going. Makes me feel even more strongly about it!
(and bitter, why do they cut off at two years???)

I'm sorry about that NC. They're horrible, aren't they. I know how sore earache can be, and it's jsut the endless repetition of "oh dear, another one" and screaming child.
Whed ds was born I was all for getting it done privately as it was before the gov. announced that they were introducing it. Spurred on by Amyjade's story. Fortunately by the time I saw the HV about it, they had announced that under 2's would be given the jab and ds was at the time 12 months so qualified.
I would say though that dd (now nearly 4) hasn't had an ear infection for a year plus, so perhaps she's just grown out of them.
