Well, he is getting regular contractions anyway - has been since 4a.m. and he is in pain. Any clue what it might be or what he should do?

Could he be pregnant?

Sorry, could it be a stomach bug? The Dragon family have had one over the last week complete with stomach cramps.

fisil · 02/09/2004 08:09

he looks about 8 months!

I wondered about a stomach bug. What did all the dragons do about their bug?

Sounds like stomach cramping? - possibly body trying to get rid of something dodgy really fast... eaten anything dodgy or overeaten/rich food? any heart burn....If it were my dh I would take pain killers and something like gaviscon to ease any burning pain
My DH had something similar and turned out to be gallstones though - was very very acute pain, difficult to pin point where in stomach and yet was stabbing pain. He had a bloated stomach and it came and went as the stones shifted. We went to casualty as he really thought it was a heart attack (so did the doctors at first -very scary).
Try a hot bath to relax the muscles and as a source of natural pain relief. If still pacing around by lunch time i would phone your GP. Stomach pain like that with no sickness or squits (sorry - can?t spell diaorreoh...) should be investigated.
Hope he gets better soon.

Agree, gall stones is a possibility or perhaps renal colic? Kidney stones are excruiatingly painful when passed and the pain comes in waves like contractions. Otherwise all I can think of is trapped wind. Hope he's ok.

SoupDragon · 02/09/2004 11:11

We Dragons either threw up or spent a lot of time sat on the toilet!

Has your DH had unprotected sex recently? Maybe he should do a test just to be onthe safe side

jampot · 02/09/2004 11:12

What about IBS - I know it can really make your tummy tender and "blow it up"

Titania · 02/09/2004 11:14

sounds like a severe case of wind to me!!! If his stomach is bloated as well!! Get him some deflatine. I have had kindey stones and they are TERRIBLE!!! I woul send him to the doctors anyway.

SofiaAmes · 02/09/2004 11:45

Take him to the doctor's right away. It is probably nothing, but it could be something and better to find out what it is. They could at a minimum prescribe him some pain killers if in fact it is gallstones. My cousin had to be hospitalized to pass his as they were so painful and they needed to put him on a drip of morphine (ok...he is a male!).

susanmt · 02/09/2004 13:29

Sounds like kidney stones to me (says the kidney stone sufferer)!!

The pain comes in waves, gets worse as it goes on and can make you sick. If he's not sick, nurofen or similar could help. If he is sick he'll probably need to be admitted to hospital if that is what it is. Some people need morphine or pethedine for the pain.

Every single man who I know who has had kidney stones says it is the worst pain you can have 'and much worse than labour - how do they know). I've done kidney stones, labour and both at the same time (3rd time lucky, eh?) and the gas & air took away the kidney stone pain better than the contractions! So men don't know anything!

When my dh had kidney stones he also felt pain deep in the groin and was in such agony that he called the Emergency Night Dr who directed him to A and E. He thought pethidine was the best thing out when they finally got around to seeing him. Spent a few days in hospital waiting for it to break down and pass.

Has he seen a dr yet as they can analyse a wee sample and scan to check. Get him drinking plenty of fluids as that should help flush it through and won't do him any harm if it something else.

Hope he feels better soon.

Thank you very much everyone - sorry I wasn't here earlier to thank you. He is feeling much better. He went to the GP and she pummelled him thoroughly and decided that it is a virus and gave him some drugs! If that virus gets anywhere near me in my condition ...

SoupDragon · 03/09/2004 07:43

Glad he's "only" got a virus
