Oh, and cutting out the caffeine completely helped me. Try to give the alcohol a miss for a while as well to see if it makes any difference. You could try sneaking it back in gradually later.

Be prepared for headaches from caffeine withdrawel though

How was your night, Cruisemum?

BettySpaghetti · 27/06/2007 11:49

I hate to say it but red wine might not be helping -theres something in it (name escapes me now) that can act as a stimulant and increase heart rate. Some wines can be worse than others.

My GP told me this years ago after I went to see him about a one-off scary episode of palpitations. In my case they never found a cause but thought it might have been a one-off panic attack?

BettySpaghetti · 27/06/2007 11:55

Tannin -thats the stuff in red wine I was referring to.

thanks all for continued input! mrs carrot - funnily enough, last night ws teh first night in ages that it didn't happen. I think this is due to the fact that I have heard from MNetters! Mkaes me convinced that it is anxiety though as i did not do anything differently last night to any other night.

cruisemum, funnily enough that was the message i was about to post last night when i got interrupted by knocking at the door (nothing unusual there then ).

once i had found out it seemed quite common and i felt a bit calmer about it, it didnt happen again although i did still go for the test as it had been booked. results havent come back yet but i would think it was anxiety. i'll see anyway.

glad you had a better night

MrsCarrot · 27/06/2007 20:46

Oh good, I'm glad you feel a bit better today. It helps just knowing that your symptoms are because of something and that it will improve. I thought I was going mad at points. Hope you have another ok night.

cruisemum1 · 28/06/2007 08:45

another reasonable nights sleep last night. Only trouble was ds woke at 11:30pm, 12:20am and 5:10am . Feel groggy today but still better. Convinced it is anxiety. Gonna get some herbal bits and bobs today to keep it at bay. Isn't it wierd how just your reassuring posts have had an impact on my slumber . Thanks MNetters
