Seeing GP for piles/potential anal fissure

I have had piles since late pregnancy and seeing my GP on Monday because I am in huge pain when I go to the loo and something is bleeding when I do. Am really nervous about it for some reason?? I'm usually the first to advocate to my friends how important it is to keep your smears upto date etc so it makes so sense why I feel like this??!
Anyone with any words of wisdom/advice. Can anal fissures heal without surgery?? I googled it and am now feeling a bit worried...

Start taking fybogel or something similar today, modify diet to keep things soft
Gp will probably give you scheriproct cream, followed by something else...sorry can't remember name but it can give you a head ache!
DH did need surgery (for a fisure and a fistular) healing takes a long time

Why do you feel nervous? Is it because you are embarrassed or because you are worried about what might be wrong?

I had one after last pregnancy and was incredibly squeamish about going to the doctor. The idea of her finger going up my bum horrified me Blush but of course it was totally run of the mill for her and completely fine at the appointment. I've just had another baby and am starting to get the same symptoms so doing what I can to improve diet but also out of precaution have bought some lactulose to help soften things up. I think surgery is not the norm and only resorted to when other measures have not been effective in helping it to heal? Flowers for you though- it's certainly no fun at all!

Try not to be embarrassed about the gp examining your bum. I know a lot about fissures having had one for some time. I’ve had a lot of doctors look at my bum and I’m very matter of fact about it now. Mine is very slowly on the mend. My advice is lactulose or milk of magnesia every day without fail to keep things soft. Do not strain ever on the loo, lots of fluid, lots of fruit and veg. I did end up having Botox under anaesthetic but it didn’t do much to help. That was after 3 different prescription creams didn’t help. Lots of time is needed sometimes to heal a fissure but you may be lucky and it heals in a few weeks.

They can definitely heal without surgery. I had both after having my son and they've finally healed in the last couple of weeks (he was born in Sept). So very painful though so you have my sympathies

Had this after DC2
They gave me some cream to stop it hurting when I went (only used it twice) and some lactulose
I also took fybogel alongside it but this wasn't medically recommended, it was more of a supplement

I don't get any problems anymore
I eat lots of fruit and veg drink lots of water eat very little grains and lots of healthy fats and no longer use anything to help me go

How did u get on OP I have similar piles on the big side of big, an anal fissure and a tight arse apparently I have been growing these for years eldest D.C. is 15 I have showed them to GP twice before and was told nothing could be done. Visited the GP again recently as in absolute agony and have been referred to colorectal doctor. Just waiting to get the prescription as it can’t be dispensed from GP as it isn’t licensed for that purpose or something seeing him again in 6-8 weeks.
