Liver MRI

Hello!

Just wondered if anyone could shed some light for me please...

I had an abdominal ultrasound, following nearly a year of putting up with right sided abdo pain. The results reconfirmed PCOS, and that i have some swelling in the left lobe of my liver, with the recommendation for an MRI.

I've never had an MRI before, and the GP has just made a referral for one.

Really looking to see what other peoples experiences are in having one, and if anyone has any idea what could cause a swelling - doing my best not to google, although my brain has gone straight to worst case scenario..

Thanks Confused

I had an MRCP back in September to have a good look at my gallbladder and biliary system. I had no contrast injections, I just had to lie in the machine for about 20mins. It's not really fun, but there's no pain and you listen to music on headphones to try to distract you from the noisy machine.

I don't know about your swelling, but do remember that livers are incredible organs with a great ability to heal themselves and still do their job even if they're not in great shape.

Thank you for your reply chocolate..
20 minutes doesn't sound too bad, and I'm not normally claustrophobic (unless drunk 😅) so that should help..

I guess it was out of the blue because I haven't had classic liver symptoms really - I'm not yellow!

Will try to keep it in mind.. it is an incredible organ as you say
