My dd is 5 months and for the past week her poo has been what dh described as 'forest green'! It is usually very green green and sometimes grey/green.

She is bf exclusively btw and I have not eaten anything out of the ordinary as far as I can remember.

Is this normal?

I've been fretting about this with my ds2 recently too. I did a mn search for green poo and loads of stuff came up. Basically, if all else is well (baby gaining weight, happy, etc), it's probably OK. I'm sure you'll get some more reassurance / technical explanations later.

hmm, well she's been a bit of a fussy eater this week in particular and cried before doing a poo this morning. Consistency is normal but do you think it could be a bug maybe?

I should add that before this week it was normally yellowy/mustard colour and has always been.

found this on internet...any help?

Consistently green stools can mean that your baby is sensitive to something. Is he on any medication? If not, could he be sensitive to any medicines that you are taking, like iron supplements or antibiotics? Very occasionally, a baby can become sensitive to something in his mother's diet which is passed to him through her breastmilk. In this case other symptoms, such as eczema or a rash, may be present. It can be hard to pinpoint the trigger. If you suspect your baby has a food allergy or intolerance, you should talk it through with a dietitian or breastfeeding counsellor. Your baby may also have diarrhoea if he has a viral or bacterial infection, in which case, make an appointment to see your GP.

My ds does green poo more often than not these days, and I've always been led to believe (HV) that it was too much foremilk, not enough hindmilk. But I know that's not the case because he takes big feeds and empties the breast. For a few days I even tried expressing before going to bed (he sleeps through) to keep my breasts from getting to full. Didn't make any difference.

I mean "too full"

thanks for your help and Emco, thank you for looking that up ( I forget there is a world outside of mn!).
I think I'll keep a closer eye on what I'm taking in myself and if it hasn't gone in a week I'll take her to the gps just to be on the safe side.
