Help! I’ve just wet the bed...

BlushingOutLoud · 16/12/2018 08:33

I’ve named changed for this due to mortification. I’ve just wet the bed. Not a ‘full’ wee, as I realised it was happening and ran to the bathroom, but enough that there’s a wet patch on the sheet and a big wet patch on the back of my pyjama bottoms. This has never happened to me before and I’m a bit scared there’s something wrong with me. I had 3 bottles of beer (think Budweiser size) last night spread across the whole evening with a big dinner, so quite a lot of liquid, but I was in no way drunk. The other night I drank a mug of tea directly before bed and this didn’t happen!

I was having a dream about needing a wee and being in horrible public toilets that were all blocked (first world problems), which might have something to do with it, but I thought that sort of thing stopped in childhood.

Basically I’m just wondering if this has happened to anyone else, and whether I need to make a doctors appointment? My boyfriend stayed over last night and luckily I’ve managed to deal with it without him noticing (I hope), but I’m scared of it happening again.Confused

Yes it's happened to me. Also a dream about being on the toilet. My sister has done it too. Not anything to worry about and probably quite common (as long as it's an isolated incident and doesn't happen all the time)

BlushingOutLoud · 16/12/2018 08:41

That makes me feel slightly better, thank you!

Should just add, I’m aware it could be a symptom of a UTI, but I’ve had plenty of those before and not had this with any of them.

I’ve done it once in similar circumstances to yours. Dream about not managing to get to the toilet and then wee’d a bit. This was years ago though and it’s never happened since

BatPie · 16/12/2018 09:29

Not the toilet troll are you? They post similar, always wanting to know if 'anyone else has had this happen!'

user1488622199 · 16/12/2018 09:30

I’ve had quite a lot of utis in the past but only wet the bed on one occasion so maybe keep an eye on yourself and don’t rule it out. I was staying at my then bf’s house so needed his help to sort it out - he’s now my husband and 2 children later he’s seen much worse!

InspectorIkmen · 16/12/2018 09:40

That's right people! Share your piss stories!

BatPie · 16/12/2018 09:42

Ah but people will share of course

Not that it matters but don't fuel this person. Lol at 'should I make a doctors appointment' and sticking it in general health

Heartofglass21 · 16/12/2018 09:47

Please don't share stories of urinary mishaps. Urolagnics and ABDLs sadly walk amongst us. Or should that be wank amongst us?

Wenttoseainasieve · 16/12/2018 09:59

No this has never happened to me.

It's always the details such as 'a big wet patch on the back of my pyjama bottoms' that start to make me suspicious of these posts.

If you're genuine, I don't think a doctor is necessary unless it happens again.

BlushingOutLoud · 16/12/2018 10:00

Oh God, I knew people would come on here and accuse me of being a troll!

I’m genuinely not, I promise, just an embarrassed hypochondriac. I wasn’t expecting (and didn’t want!) gory details, just a simple ‘Yes, it’s happened to me once or twice, don’t worry’ is perfectly sufficient if anyone was comfortable sharing to make me less humiliated/panicking.

And I was genuinely considering making a doctors appointment after googling it this morning, as I thought it wasn’t a ‘normal’ thing to happen to adults unless they’re drunk/heavily pregnant/have an existing medical condition. Hence the posting. I am genuinely sorry if I’ve upset anyone though.

@BatPie I didn’t know where else to put it and I was in a bit of a rush! It is general health, surely?

OP posts:
BatPie · 16/12/2018 10:02

So sorry if you're genuine. My apologies.

It's very normal to experience it though as surely you must know? The dream thing thinking you're on the loo.

BlushingOutLoud · 16/12/2018 10:10

I am genuine, yes Blush

I knew it was a normal thing to happen to children, but it’s never happened to me as an adult (even when I’ve had a bit too much to drink, had a UTI etc) so I was genuinely worried.

Now I’m more embarrassed about being so worried about it Hmm

On the plus side I’ve just learned a new word in ‘urolagnia’, every days a school day!

BigcatLittlecat · 16/12/2018 10:16

In times of extreme stress I do. I hate it.

As I’ve said, I’ve got no urge at all to hear anyone’s ‘piss stories’ (no offence guys, obviously) I was just seeking reassurance that this was normal(ish) from anyone who was willing to offer it. Nobody is obliged to reply, presumably those who have replied (and have made me feel much better, thank you!) realised that I was genuine.

I can’t decide what’s more embarrassing now. The incident itself, the fact that I got so stressed health wise about the incident, or people online thinking I get sexual gratification out of hearing about wee related incidents Hmm

I was actually going to put “I’m not a troll!” in my original post, but then I thought people will just comment saying “THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT A TROLL WOULD SAY!” so I felt it was slightly a case of damned if you do, damned if you don’t...

OP posts:
BoreOfWhabylon · 16/12/2018 11:47

Two women I know who experienced this turned out to have type 2 diabetes.

It's not normal - please see your GP.

dementedpixie · 16/12/2018 12:01

As a one off it can be normal. I wouldn't see a GP for one isolated incidence

BlushingOutLoud · 16/12/2018 12:24

@BoreOfWhabylon

That’s what I was worried about after I checked with Dr Google this morning. General consensus seems to be it’s not that weird as a one off incident though, so not sure what to do now!

OP posts:
BatPie · 16/12/2018 12:31

Don't do anything? Just forget about it. You were in a deep sleep, you thought you were on the loo, it's normal. I'm surprised you're giving this so much thought ...

BoreOfWhabylon · 16/12/2018 12:33

Well, you don't know what, if any, medical qualifications anyone posting here has, so probably best to discuss with your GP.

BlushingOutLoud · 16/12/2018 17:11

I guess I am giving it quite a lot of thought, I did say I was a hypochondriac!

Thank you for your input everyone Smile

I'm glad some people have responded helpfully to your thread. I didn't think for one moment that you might be a 'troll'. Funny how other posters can't resist a thread that does what it says on the tin, click on it and then scream "Troll!" Guess they can't help themselves.

Hope this isn't a symptom of anything sinister for you. Take care.

dombeyandson · 16/12/2018 23:58

Happened to me once and only once, when I was 26! I dreamed I was weeing and weed. Was sharing a bed with my then boyfriend. I was mortified but didn't see GP. Was a little nervous of sleep for a night or two!
