Severe abdominal pains, like trapped wind but not that?

YerAuntFanny · 15/12/2018 07:54

On Wednesday I felt a bit shitty, think cold symptoms but by Thursday night my abdomen became excruciatingly painful and has continued on and off since.

I'm in a hot bath again (4th in 24hrs) to try alleviate it, have massaged my stomach, rocked on all frours and various other wind release exercises which has released some but still in agony :( Also had sickness and a bout of dihorrea (sp?)

I'm wary of waiting around in A&E incase it's a bug that I could pass on but I'm not sure now. Any ideas?

Whereabouts is the pain, is it central round belly button area or to one side? Or generally all over?

EvaHarknessRose · 15/12/2018 08:19

Check how to check for appendicitis- the symptoms sound a bit similar to what my colleague described the other day take care

Fairylea · 15/12/2018 08:22

I would say if you’re not actually being sick and only had one bout of the runs that it’s probably not a sickness bug as you’d most likely be unable to get off the toilet being sick / the other end. I would ring 111 for advice.

Fairylea · 15/12/2018 08:23

Oh sorry just re read and saw you’ve been sick.

I would still ring 111 - severe abdominal pain needs checking out.

Heartofglass21 · 15/12/2018 08:26

Ring 111. Get assessed by a nurse advisor and ask for a GP out of hour appointment. Persistent pain needs to be checked out. Feel better soon.

YerAuntFanny · 15/12/2018 08:35

Just off the phone to 111 awaiting callback within 3 hours.

Pain is central but more to the right and spreads up to ribs.

Friend mentioned that it sounds similar to his gallstone attacks, trying not to Google!

If I asked you to could you stand on your right leg and hop?

MissMarplesKnitting · 15/12/2018 08:44

That sounds like gallstone based colic. Get the your GP.

I had my gallbladder out and it's made a real difference to my life. I though it had awful IBS for years. Turns out it wasn't!!

YerAuntFanny · 15/12/2018 09:21

Have an OOH appointment at 11am.

Took 2 Paracetamol and have a hot water bottle glued on via harem waistband which seems to have taken it down to a dull ache. Feel like I'm free now 😳

I can stand on right foot and hop (3x) but it felt like a stitch and I have zero energy so gave up. Is that a thing?

Feel like I'm faking rather!

dombeyandson · 15/12/2018 13:34

There's been a bug of this nature going round actually. A friend had it and I had a mild version.

Heartofglass21 · 15/12/2018 16:46

What did the out of hours doc think was wrong?

YerAuntFanny · 15/12/2018 20:28

He reckons it is most likely a dose of Norovirus and should hopefully be in the mend soon but if pain reoccurs tonight I've to go back tomorrow to get checked over as he can't be 100% sure.

Heartofglass21 · 15/12/2018 21:53

@YerAuntFanny ouch, no wonder you feel rough. Lots of fluids and plenty of rest, feel better soon.

FunkyBrownie · 15/12/2018 21:58

I was going to say, it sounds just like when I had gallstones (And please don’t feel like you’re faking - my pain was horrendous to the point of throwing up and doctors and nurses were very quick to reassure me that I wasn’t being a wuss) I found that an attack would start with a bloated, trapped wind kind of feeling I couldn’t alleviate and would escalate from there. If I caught it soon enough I would take buscopan (ibs cramp relief which you can buy over the counter) and that would take the edge off.

I hope it’s not gallstones OP, but if that’s keeps happening please do keep it in mind; it took a long time for me to be diagnosed but once I was treatment was very swift.

Feel better x

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 15/12/2018 22:02

Sounds like gallstones

babysharkah · 15/12/2018 22:04

Gallstones.

YerAuntFanny · 18/12/2018 07:45

The bloody pains came back last night but managed to get some sleep with Paracetamol and hot water bottle, woke up to a loose BM too.

I have the contraceptive implant so my period is all over the place but seems to have started this morning, first in about 3/4 months I think. Hoping this isn't a related to that and doesn't become a regular occurrence!

Supposed to be back at work tomorrow :(

Not sure whether to make another GP appointment and mention Gallstones as a RL friend mentioned that too.

happystory · 18/12/2018 08:11

I would in no way claim to be an expert but it sounds exactly like a gallstone attack, I know - I had them!

YerAuntFanny · 18/12/2018 08:23

Think I'll make an appointment, regardless of what it is it's bloody painful and I really don't think it's Norovirus when the pain has reappeared after 2 days!

Thanks everyone. Off to walk the school run in gale force winds with a hot water bottle stuffed in my hoodie! Proper feeling sorry for myself today 😂

Gallbladder attack will leave you feeling very tender and bloaty afterwards, potentially for a few days.

If it is gallstones, don't worry. The surgery is brilliant and you'll feel great very quickly afterwards!

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 19/12/2018 18:39

I didnt feel bloaty after gallbaldder attack. Just saying as it still could be that. How are you OP

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 02/01/2019 20:15
