Do doctors still do home visits these days?

Only asking because we live in a Valley. Its about a 4 mile walk to the doctors. DS(5) "played" sick this morning to get out of school. Or so I thought. He tries it every other day tbh so I never know when to believe him.

I told him to go back to bed, and told DP to take the car cos its peeing down here so Im not likely to be going anywhere.

Anyway in the last half an hour ds's face has become swollen on one side. He wont eat anything and will only drink through a straw.

I have about £4 on me and thats it, plus a 4mo, do you think I should ring and ask?

Julie

PS - does it sound like mumps?

ring and ask. Explain the situation.

Could be mumps - has he had his MMR?

Or it could be another infection. My dd1's face swelled up with sinusitis.

Doctors should still do home visits where no other option. Ring the surgery and they may be able to advise.

belgo he has had the MMR, Baby hasnt yet so panicking a little.

Although he has a temp now and throwing up, we all had a sickness bug a few weeks back and he escaped it. My dad had it last week so I think it maybe that now, I have dioralyte and calpol so Ill see how we go.

thanks x

I would ring and ask. They might be quite happy to pop by while they are doing rounds - ring early and it will be more convenient for them.
