Small sore that won't heal - pic attached

I've had this scaly patch on the top of my foot for several months. I think I first noticed it in the early summer and thought it was where my sandals rubbed or something. Many months later I've realised it hasn't ever healed and seems to crust over then weep then crust again. Sometimes a slightly itchy / burning sensation but not enough to bother me really.

However, I read recently that any sore that doesn't heal within 4 weeks should be seen by a doctor as it might be a type of skin cancer.

It's a busy time of year and I don't want to bother the doctor with something so small and seemingly minor but I've been googling and it does look a bit like some of the non-melanoma types of skin cancer. I'm uploading a picture on the offchance any skin experts are reading this. Do you think this warrants a visit to my GP to get it checked out? Thanks in advance.

I would get it checked out by your GP sooner rather than later, as you can then put your mind at rest is it is completely innocent. You may need referring to a dermatologist for it too.

Thank you for replying, Cantthink. I really do appreciate it. I'll make an appointment in the morning.

Looks like eczema but get it checked out to be safe.

Is there also a chance you could be diabetic?! As people with diabetes have a longer healing time due to high blood sugar levels. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Thanks everyone.

It is a bit like eczema but hasn't healed up like an occasional patch of eczema does. I'm not diabetic (was tested some years ago because prone to thrush) but it's possible I could have developed it since then. I will go and get it checked though.

I also thought of diabetes. Sores that take a long time to heal are sometimes a sympton of the disease.
