Dh says it’s in my mind but it happens a lot- I can’t be the only one? Anyone else get this?

Could you be iron deficent? When I stop taking my multivitamins I get run down and experience both mouth ulcers and eventually lurgy.

ElizabethMainwaring · 09/12/2018 20:55

Yes I get it, since childhood. No idea why though.

MaHeidsGouping · 09/12/2018 20:57

I get sore gums too when I have a cold, its usually the 1st symptom I get.

TeddyIsaHe · 09/12/2018 20:57

I would think something to do with added pressure in your sinuses due to being all snotty.

MessyBun247 · 09/12/2018 20:57

I get sore gums when my sinuses are blocked. I think being bunged up can create pressure on the mouth or something?

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 09/12/2018 20:58

Weird isn’t it?

Oh sinuses could be it, my face in general hurts a lot.

It’s quite common for sinuses to run very close to the tooth roots (or in my case, basically through them) so when I get a cold I get tooth/gum ache.

amaretto83 · 09/12/2018 21:06

I'd put money on sinuses. I had this recently and went to the dentist with tooth/gum pain. She did an x ray and asked if I had a cold (which I did) and was able to show me sinus swelling on the x ray. I found ibuprofen helped a lot. Get well soon Smile

Blibbyblobby · 09/12/2018 21:12

Pretty sure it’s sinuses. I get sore gums when I have a cold. Every time I forget and think it’s gum disease! Then I realise it’s the same on both sides so it’s probably sinuses.

Try pushing the sides of your nose next to your nostrils. If it’s tender it’s sinus pain. (My old school dentist did this when I was a kid...I nearly hit the roof!)

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 09/12/2018 21:22

It doesn’t hurt to push (though I do have a weirdly high pain threshold) but I just feel really heady. I have a runny nose and sore throat and just feel really full of cold.

I’ll try the ibuprofen.

I don't know but I often get toothache with a cold, to the point that whilst I know I often get toothache with a cold I'm on the verge of making a dentist's appointment

Wordthe · 09/12/2018 21:28

It's because of your sinuses
I recommend the neti pot

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 09/12/2018 21:57

Oh my- I just looked that up! I don’t think I can do that! Thank you though.

I get this too. I always put it down to breathing through my mouth more so my teeth were more exposed!! Didn't even think about sinuses 🤦🏼‍♀️

Wordthe · 09/12/2018 22:34

I know the neti pot looks like a freakish and extreme thing, but it's actually (ime) easy, comfortable and soothing to use (provided you have the right amount of salt in the water)
