Hi everyone,

I'm 35 year old female, normal weight, eat healthy etc.

Tuesday evening after aching pain in chest arm and neck and 1 doctors app and taking myself to a&e and 4hrs wait I was told I had a heart attack.
2 abnormal ECG and Troponin at 68 which raised to 73 after 2nd test.

Srayedbin hospital till yesterday and have been sent home waiting on a CT with the dye to check arteries?
Echo was also done all looked good, all ECG and blood test, blood pressure all good ever since.

Feel really low, scared beyond belief and just wanted someone to talk too.

As soon as I heard 8t wasn't great new my anxiety/panic attacks kicked in ( haven't suffered in 10 years with these after being on citalopram)

So I'm home constantly thinking I can't breath, or I feel dizzy or just sitting here waiting for something to happen

I'm so sorry to hear this, it must be scary. Do you have anyone in real life you can talk to? have you looked on the British Heart Foundation website for information and local support groups?

flippyflapper · 08/12/2018 16:57

I have lots of family and friends who have been amazing, I was Hopi g to speak to someone who has been there too.

My anxiety is making me feel terrible

So sorry to hear this OP. I haven't but my DH had a heart attack three years ago. He had lots of tests done, then was sent home to wait for the angiogram. During that time it was really scary - not because there was anything still happening to him, but just because it's a big worry.

He had an angiogram (the CT thing with the dye), and it was decided that he need a stent put into one of his arteries. There was a bit of a wait again but it was done one day and he was home the next.

He was on Clopidogrel for a year, and also statins. He now takes one statin per day and one aspirin and has been much better than he was before he had the heart attack.

Please try not to worry, as you're under the care of the doctor and they are aware you've had a problem.

If I were you, I'd go back and talk to your GP about your anxieties and I'm sure he/she will be able to reassure you.

Best of luck with your treatment. My DH was older than you (49) but still young to have a heart attack. Flowers

flippyflapper · 08/12/2018 17:17

Thank you Sherlock, I'm also on clopiodrel and aspirin daily.

I was supposed to have the CT Wednesday but it has been broken.

Everyone keeps saying it must be a misunderstanding etc etc I'm too young. But I guess blood results don't lie. According to the doctors that's the whole reason to believe it was a heart attack, I'm guessing a mild one as it wasn't painful at all.

Did you dh have a echo?

My husband ages 52 had one 5 weeks ago whilst we were on holiday in Bruges. Within 15 mins of the hotel phoning there were two paramedics 3 nurses and a doctor in the hotel room. They did an ECG and gave him anticoagulant in hotel before transfer to hospital.
They gave him an X-ray and did bloods and within five hours had a stent fitted and was in overnight. One artery had narrows and he had a blood clot.
He is on quite a few tablets but he is finding it hard as the medication makes him very tired and is in bed by 8pm.
He works in a manual job and will be off for at least another 2 months.
Long term he should be fine.
He has just started to drive again and is exercising by walking and on an exercise bike.

tinytemper66 · 08/12/2018 17:26

He also had a n echo before he left hospital in Bruges and is having another one on Tuesday.

JammyGeorge · 08/12/2018 17:32

Someone with more relevant experience will come along soon no doubt.

I know it's not the same situation but my Ddad had a heart attack in April, it was a stemi (100% blockage) of his left coronary artery. He was in a terrible state and ended up in cardiac arrest. Anyway, 8 months later he's fit and healthy and apart from a few side effects of meds he's doing really well.

I was horrified when it happened as we were cast into a world of cardio wards, clinics and tests but the support is great. He has his own cardio nurse and went through rehab. Just hang on in there and work through the tests/system and you'll soon be on the right path.

At the time everyone I talked to was tripping over themselves to tell me about people they know who've had heart attacks and 3 months later they were running marathons etc and it kind of pissed me off as it felt like they were minimising it (I'm sure that wasn't their intention) like it's not a big deal, but it is.

It is a huge shock to deal with and coming to terms with it was very hard for him, be kind to yourself and post away for any support we can give.

newtlover · 08/12/2018 17:35

hallo flippyflapper
I can really empathise as I had a very similar experience (esp nobody believing it could be a heart attack- I was a pre menopausal non smoking vegetarian)
what I want to tell you is-
this happened to me 15 years ago and NOTHING bad has happened since
I take statins, with no problems. I am fit and active- I started running a year or so after it happened and regularly run 5 k (slowly, but that's because I tend to daydream when I'm running Smile)
I had to take 6 weeks off work, but this forced me into finding a new job which I loved.
The only advice I would give is get referred for counselling and/or CBT- the main negative outcomes for me were anxiety, which was new for me, and continued to be a problem on and off for a long time. But I learnt to cope with it.
I know it's scary but there's no reason you won't make a full recovery and have a long healthy life ahead of you.

flippyflapper · 08/12/2018 18:11

Wow tiny how scarey and on holiday, sounds like he had amazing treatment .
I had a xray but all clear.
Everything seams all clear to be honest just the Troponin being raised is the concern, although that's back to normal now.

Thank you for all talking to me, it's nice to talk about similar experiences

Jammy, I can imagine it must be difficult to watch someone you care about hi through it all.

The hardest thing is my panic attacks have the same symptoms of what you are ask to watch out for, I've tried everything 5o just calm myself down, my lovely friend just came over (Same friend who made me go to hospital) and just like it went and they took my mind off it.

They have gone now and I feel like my chest is heavy again .. ughhh.

New, I'm so glad you are doing do well, you sound amazing you really do. You have given me hope

My ex had a heart attack in his 30s when I was with him. He was driving at the time then I took over and drove him to hospital when he started sweating and clutching his chest.

The heart attack although shocking at the time didn’t affect his lifestyle although I remember he was told to cut down on the alcohol. He remained slim and relatively fit and healthy for the rest of his life and he died of an unrelated illness age 60.

Not sure if that helps sorry but I can imagine how scared and shocked you must be feeling.

flippyflapper · 08/12/2018 20:04

Time, thank you for sharing, it does help all of the comments do.

All of the stuff I read about are grim so I'm glad I'm getting real life stories

sorry this is happening to you. I was reading about heart attacks in young healthy women the other day something called SCAD www.webmd.com/heart-disease/news/20180319/scad-heart-attack-strikes-young-women may not be relevant to you but worth asking dr about perhaps.

flippyflapper · 09/12/2018 08:58

Wow thanks that all sounds very familiar to me. U will definetly be asking about it

A little bump to see if anyone else out there

satsumagirl · 09/12/2018 20:43

I've not had this experience but wanted to say that my brother in law, who is ace, has had 2 heart attacks and is fine now. He had 2 stents put in and is back at work in demanding job (he is a lawyer) and doing well. I am sure you will be too flippyflapper.

nobeer · 09/12/2018 21:19

Hi OP. I had a heart attack 3 and a bit years ago when my baby was a few months old. In my case they think it was genetic as my maternal grandmother had a heart attack at a similar age when my mum was a baby. So do ask family members if they know of any other incidents with other relatives as the cardiologists may be interested and might want to look further into that.

I can totally relate to the anxiety. I was a mess after I was discharged from hospital. I think the enormity of it all just hit me like a ton of bricks. Every ache or twinge would send me into a panic, not to mention the catastrophising. A kind GP told me I had health anxiety. I was a bit blunt and told him of course I bloody did, I'd just had a heart attack at a young age.

I've just remembered something a cardiac nurse told me when I was in hospital. She told me they see all sorts on that ward, from gym bunnies to your typical heart attack candidates.

You might be offered cardiac rehabilitation. Do it, it's nice to be in a room full of people in the same boat as you. You might be the youngest there, but watching my strength improve did help my confidence.

Be kind to yourseld OP. You've had a hell of a time and you'll need more time to recover and feel like you again. Feel free to PM if you want to.

flippyflapper · 10/12/2018 10:39

Wow thank you.

I called up the hospital today, still no idea when scan is. I just want to no what is going on? Blocked arteries? Or something else? I feel like a ticking time bomb.

I completely get the anxiety, every little pain, is it something to worry about? Is it just wind something. I can't sleep as I keep worrying I won't wake up.

It's all un known with me, I have no diagnose so the worse is going through my head

OP posts:
nobeer · 10/12/2018 18:59

I've no idea how the time scale works in your case. I know I had an angiogram and ct scan on my brain when I was still in the hospital. I think I had a further MRI about 2 or so months after, it's all a bit hazy now. I do know I had to chase things up and I had to go through pals as I'd somehow fallen through the admin system.
Having said that, the care I received from the hcps was brilliant and I think of them often.
Do go to your GP too to see if they can refer you for counselling.

flippyflapper · 10/12/2018 19:12

I was supposed to have the CT on Wednesday, actually got wheeled down there and the machine broke, it's still broke apparently.

It's been a week tom and I still dont no what happened and how bad it all is.

OP posts:
flippyflapper · 11/12/2018 09:32

Another night without sleep.

Today is a week since it all happened.

OP posts:
flippyflapper · 13/12/2018 18:31

Just an update. Had CT with dye today. Wasn't pleasant but not bad considering.

Got to wait for the results.

Anyone experienced this?

When do you expect the results to come through?
