Gallstones - fed up!

I have suffered a few episodes of biliary colic during both of my pregnancies, although horrendous at the time they have thankfully passed after a few hours and then I've been fine. I had a second around two months ago which confirmed I had gallstones.

Since the birth of DS2 8 weeks ago I've had three biliary colic episodes but instead of the pain lasting a few hours and then feeling fine, I've had days of pain afterwards. The pain is not as intense as the initial biliary colic pain but it's still sore enough that I need to take cocodamol to deal with it. If I don't eat anything the pain is very minimal, almost just a slightly swollen feeling but every time I eat (sticking to a diet of soups and rice cakes) it's a really tight and painful sensation all across my abdomen and around my back.

The doctor has referred me to general surgery and received an appointment for 24th January but not sure how to cope in the meantime. The painkillers make me tired but without them I can't concentrate on anything due to the pain but they are also affecting me breastfeeding which is really getting me down. I can't find any advice online relating to longer term pain with gallstones, it all seems to be around biliary colic (which shouldn't last longer than a few hours) or acute cholecystitis which I don't think I have because I don't have signs of infection.

Sorry for the long post, was just hoping someone had similar experiences and could share any tips on how to cope.
