Best thing to eat after a heavy night of throwing up?

TMI - Started feeling ill 7pm yesterday, threw up at 8.30, then felt fine. Went to bed woke up at 10:50, threw up again, each time heaved 5 or 6 times and bought stuff up. Went back to sleep woke again at 2pm, threw up again, this time just bile and the last few heaves nothing, so there is definitely nothing left so to speak.

Now feel completely drained and exhausted and have a 2 year old running around and DH has gone out for the day Oh and am also 6 months pregnant so lo kicking me around isn't helping

The only thing I think of that I have eaten that may have caused this is some tuna in a sandwich at 12pm yesterday, it has been in my fridge for two day, do you think this is the culprit? It was only a third of a small tin though, can't believe it has made me so ill, other than that I am at a loss, unless I have picked a bug up from somewhere.

Anyway sorry to rabble on, just feeling sorry for myself too

All I have had so far is a glass of water. Don't feel like eating but tummy is rumbling, don't think I could face dry toast. Any ideas?

BRAT
banana, rice, apple, toast

any of them take your fancy?

tortoiseSHELL · 24/06/2007 08:46

Don't eat anything for 5-6 hours, have some sips of water, then try some rich tea biscuits.

kiskidee · 24/06/2007 08:47

something nice and salty and liquidy. like soup.

Kallo vegetable stock says on the back taht it can be made into a soup. NO msg etc. as it is organic. try having it with cream crackers.

MrsFish · 24/06/2007 08:55

Trinity - I have banana but it gives me terrible heartburn, don't think I can cope with that too

I could try a plain biscuit or two in a bit, then maybe some soup for lunch? and see how it goes.

Try something with ginger. It can be quite good on an upset stomach.

Poor you - it's horrible to feel hungry andsick at the same time, isn't it? Have you got any fresh ginger? If so, make some ginger tea (grate some ginger and steep it in some boiling water, then make ordinary tea and put some of the ginger liquid in it.) Have it with sugar even if you don't usually. Very comforting and settling. Nibble a biscuit or two as well. Oh, and tell dh to come home at once!

MrsFish · 24/06/2007 09:08

Unfortunately I don't have any ginger and can not face getting us ready to go out to get some, live in the sticks so no shops nearby it would require an hours round trip

DH did reluctantly offer to stay at home, but I told him to go as he has been looking forward to it for ages. He has gone to the Moto Grand Prix at Donington. Will see how I go, if I get worse I'll ask him to come home.

I think I am going to stay on the water for another hour or so and see how I feel, luckily ds is quietly watching tv atm but feel a bit upset as in how to occupy him for the entire day Thinking positively I am hoping I will feel better soon

It has been medically proven that if a mother is ill, children benefit hugely developmentally, socially, educationally and emotionally from watching enormous amounts of television. Disny DVDs have a particularly beneficial effect - especially the longer ones. It would be very wrong of you to deny your dc this huge advantage!

PavlovtheCat · 24/06/2007 11:39

Oh and you need to get your DP to get his backside back home as look after you pronto.

Mrscarrot · 24/06/2007 11:54

nibble on rice cakes, and a bit of apple?

cornsilk · 24/06/2007 12:00

If you can stomach tham, eggs are good for hangovers - not sure of the science. I have tried it and do feel less rough after eating them.

cornsilk · 24/06/2007 12:01

I also find a big mac meal with a strawberry milkshake is excellent.

MrsFish · 24/06/2007 12:15

Its not a hangover, I'm 6 months pregnant and must have eaten something that hasn't agreed with me

Don;t fel sick anymore, just feel incredibly tired and achy. I'm hoping ds will go to bed for a nap shortly and I'm going to join him.

Not eaten anything yet, just can't stomach it.

Hope you had/get a nap today and feel better for it

MrsFish · 24/06/2007 15:09

Well managed a micronap, ds finally dozed off about 1.30 but in bed with me and he snores, but I managed about 45 mins I think. I feel a little better just going to take some pills for achy bits now.

That reminds me, when I was pregnant I got foodpoisoning and it was the most violent stomach upset I've ever had.

I think your body works extra hard to get rid of any toxins that could be harmful, so at least you know it's doing its job!

Hope you get a good nights sleep.

MrsFish · 25/06/2007 11:44

Well, had a decent nights sleep and feel totally normal again now, thankfully. It must have been a 24 hour bug
