Anyone had it done? I’m feeling a bit anxious now. Weirdly I’m not worried about the actual procedure but I am worried about it not working or worse (I think it’s filling in the consent form that’s done it!)
Any top tips or an anyone tell me a bit more what to expect?

I'm glad you saw a proper surgeon, it may have changed but when I had mine done any medic could set themselves up to do the surgery even if they had no eye or surgical expertise.
Given the money you've paid I would be ringing back and wanting a full explanation and asking what follow up they are going to do to help it heal. It sounds like you had fairly complicated eyes beforehand, did they not warn you of any risks?

Ah yeah the guy I saw does this privately then works on the nhs as an eye surgeon too so he knows his stuff. He’s been doing the laser surgery for donkeys years. I’ve another appt with him fri morning and I can call him whenever . He doesn’t seem worried about it so perhaps I shouldn’t be either. It’s just disappointing you know. Am slightly heartened by @babycakes1010 who sounds like she had a similar experience.
Yes I had ALL the stuff to sign about the associated risks. But also was encouraged by my surgeon saying he’s never had any problems from it. This is what I mean- maybe this IS normal?!! Because touch wood there doesn’t seem to be any kind of horrible infection or anything.

I had the type where they don't cut a flap and it took several months to get perfect vision. I had ups and downs with my anxiety about it but my doctor was reassuring and it all settled down.

That was 10 years ago and no problems since.

I had mine done over 20 years ago by a proper surgeon at proper hospital, had a bit of blurryness which took about 4 month to settle down ( but that eye e was really bad before I had it done and i couldn't see y hand in front to my face clearly with it before the op ,

I have never needed distance glasses r again. I do have reading glasses now but thats because of my age 60+

Mine was at East Grinstead eye hospital . the surgeon Sheraz Daya was brilliant

Mine was a Harley St private clinic. Not really blurriness more mistiness post op for me, just for a few days, and some dryness for a bit longer. I had quite a few different eye drops for the first week, antibiotic ones, anti-inflammatory ones and 2 different lubricating ones. Felt like was continually putting drops in at first! They also gave me eye shields to wear at night to protect my eyes whilst I slept. And a few benzo sleeping pills if I couldn’t sleep.

If you’re not sure OP I’d contact your surgeon. Do you have lots of eye drops etc?

Kenworthington · 13/12/2018 14:11

Sooo many drops! 2 different it’s 4 times a day this week plus lubricating drops as required up to 4 time a aday then from next week a different set of drops 3 times a day plus the moisturising oneS
