Any idea what this rash is?

It's in my teen son. Painful rather than itchy. Piriton has taken it down a little but not completely. No other symptoms.

Hives or urticaria?

cricketmum84 · 04/12/2018 21:48

Yeah I thought hives at first, he hasn't left the house today though as he has been in bed with migraine (he gets them quite regularly) and the fact it's painful rather than itchy has thrown me!

Can present as burning or stinging rather than itchy.
Have you continued with the piriton? Would maybe get some advice from a pharmacist or head to the GP if things don't clear up.

cricketmum84 · 04/12/2018 22:20

He's only taken one piriton this evening (it's the one a day tablets). Will see how it looks tomorrow and take him to the pharmacy after school if it's still there.

Thank you for the advice :)

Hope it clears up for you and isn't anything more sinister Smile

If it's hives (which it does look like) it might be exacerbated by heat or pressure. I used to get them as a teen, particularly when I wore tight clothes eg leggings/thick tights or sat near the fire. Worst thing is to lean against a radiator. Piriton usually takes it down and should be fine.
