Have you tried your GP? There are treatments for this. Not drugs, I believe, but physical treatments that you are taught to do yourself, such as dilators, and 'mind' treatments, such as counselling of various sorts.

It's a difficult thing to talk to your GP about - perhaps talking to a femal doctor would be easier than to a male doctor - but it is a very real and distressing condition, and as such a GP will do there best to help 'cure' it.

I would advise you to go to your local GUM clinic (sexual health). I work in one and we have a special clinic which deals with exactly this and we have various consultant doctors who specialise in this condition. It is very real and you would be surprised by how many women it affects, of all ages. You may find that your GP isn't that helpful as they are usually, a) as embarrassed as you are when you bring up sexual problems and b) as lots of GP are not sexual health specialists, they may not have heard of this problem or will not probably be that experienced / know about the latest treatments. Thats not to diss GP's at all, but they cant be experts at everything. Go to a specialist clinic. You don't need a referral. HTH
