Abdominal pain advice please??

I've been having this pain on my right side going round my back the last couple of months. I went to the doctors recently (I have muscle separation with a suspected hernia, consultant appointment pending, however the pain isn t where the suspected hernia is, just thought I'd mention) and she's referred me for an ultrasound to see if it's a cyst and recommended ibuprofen in the mean time.

I'm early 20s, with children. I'm absolutely exhausted and can't stop weeing (it's like being pregnant again) I'm super bloated but can't tell if that's just the muscle separation or not, or I've been snacking too much! Although everywhere else on my body is pretty skinny. Reflux has started too.

In the past couple of days the pain has amped up. I have been taking co-codomol and laying with a hot water bottle and it's still hurting and keeping me up. I've not been able to go to work the past couple of days and am pretty sure I won't be in tomorrow. It's gotten much worse tonight I've actually started crying and couldn't concentrate on I'm a celeb (boo)

Anyway I'm just wondering if it would be unreasonable to go back to the doctors? I'm worried I'm just wasting time and will tell me to wait till my ultrasound in 2 weeks.

Sorry for the long rambling post, took all the codomol I'm aloud and am sleep deprived. Thank you for any advice!!

Could you speak to your GP over the phone? My surgery will do this as it saves time, especially as it’s not an initial consultation.

I’d be concerned with your symptoms that it is ovarian related, maybe cyst? They can be very painful. Fibroid also is a possibility. Did they check for UTI? It could be a UTI which is affecting your kidneys now. Maybe worth asking if they didn’t already check.

cushioncovers · 07/12/2018 13:34

Gall stones? Appendix?

Hope you feel better soon. Thanks

redhotbellpeppers · 07/12/2018 14:00

Thanks @cushioncovers it's got much much worse past couple of days and I'm now vomiting from the pain, can't eat and can't stop falling asleep, a load of infections have broken out, one in my mouth, my hands, and my backs started to get covered in scabs ? Very weird. No anaemia or anything. Might call 111, tried to get to GP but no appointments. Worst part is I'm self employed! Not great to have this so near to Christmas. Sad

Sorry to hear you’re feeling awful! If you’re vomiting from the pain I don’t think you’d BU to go to A&E. What did 111 say? 🌷🌷🌷

redhotbellpeppers · 09/12/2018 02:45

@Froglette16 i was taken to hospital and have spent the last 3 days in and out! Exhausted does no justice to how I'm feeling! They've found a lump on my lower right abdomen (think they said it was just above overies?) it's really really painful to poke, and I'm in for a CT scan tomorrow. Bloods clear, urine clear. I'm a little bit scared if I'm honest. I try and google what a painful lump on right side could be (I know, stay away from google) searching for an easy simple answer to put my mind at ease so I can sleep and can't find one. In loads of pain and a little scared but trying not to freak out DH so playing it cool. I'll find out tomorrow anyway. Fingers crossed! Smile

Does the lump bulge out OP?

redhotbellpeppers · 09/12/2018 08:58

@panago not really, you have to really press in to feel it

Hope you get some answers and feel better soon.

Fettuccinecarbonara · 09/12/2018 09:15

I hope today goes well and you get some answers. Are you still in pain?

redhotbellpeppers · 11/12/2018 15:56

Just an update, they found cysts on my ovaries on an abdominal ultrasound but nothing on the CT scan. When asked about the lump it was more of an umm probably just constipation so have laxatives. I'm still in loads of pain. I have a transvaginal scan tomorrow morning but I feel like if the CT scan came back fine that will probably show nothing too and I'm back to square one. I'm doubled over in pain on codine, naproxen, and keep falling asleep at every opportunity even when not on the pain meds (I try to not take them due to precautions of dependency).

If it is just a simple case of constipation (I've been constipated so bad after birth, I mean like the worst I think someone could get. And it was a different kind of pain) I feel really over dramatic, which is why I was anxious to go to the doctors in the first place. I just have this feeling like that can't just be it? That can't cause this amount of symptoms and pain. Weird. Feel a bit upset I'm not getting answers and still in pain, and feel over dramatic, and a little bit embarrassed to be honest, like I should just suck it up and I'm wasting everyone's time. I'm not telling DH about the scan tomorrow as he said just to cancel it as it will probably be nothing like everything else has shown, feel silly for going really. I just want to feel better

Is it like a burning, gnawing or stabbing sensation? Does it feel prickly at all?

redhotbellpeppers · 11/12/2018 16:12

@DeltaDelta no, Just like super super bad period cramps but on just the right side of my lower abdomen, like almost pelvis kind of low. I do have my good days, some where I even don't really notice it, yesterday was lovely, but like today it's really awful. Having more bad days than good now.

Printerneedsink · 11/12/2018 16:15

Definitely don't cancel your appointment. Hope it goes well :-)

Middlrm · 11/12/2018 16:17

Take the pain meds for now your in hospital and your unlikely to become dependent, they apparently lose effectiveness if you skip doses ( apparently I was told this when I had gallstone pain... which is worse than labour pain in my opionion ) try the laxatives and let them go through their check list fingers crossed they figure it out soon, sleep is your bodies way of trying to heal itself lap it up.

suddenlypanicked · 11/12/2018 16:20

Kidney colic?

LittleLongDog · 11/12/2018 16:26

It sounds like endometriosis but could be anything, I hope they get to the bottom of it really soon.

Are you taking anything to protect your stomach from the painkillers (omeprozole or something?) if not ask your GP for this. Especially if you have reflux.

redhotbellpeppers · 11/12/2018 17:47

Thanks everyone. I'll ask about that with the pain meds, it does worry me with the amount of meds going into my body. Maybe tmi here but had the laxatives and it's causing pain in completely different area to where the usual pain is (laxatives always cause me pain before it you know...works Blush) so that kind of confirms to me that it's not constipation problems that's causing the pain? But I'm not a doctor so I could be talking out my arse right now...no pun intended ....har har har

Endometriosis is an interesting point actually. I will look into this. Thanks for the suggestion. It took me a very long time to get pregnant especially for my age and have super heavy periods.

Kidneys came back fine all bloods fine. Argh. I seem to get my appetite back late evening though so I'm looking forward to enjoying the celebrations box a meal for the first time today

How are you feeling

redhotbellpeppers · 26/01/2019 17:30

Just an update for anyone searching these symptoms - they've found a cyst on my ovaries. Relieved to hear it's not in my head! Had to push hard for the scan though, glad I did. I have another scan in 6 weeks to monitor it.

To be honest it was a little bit of a shock, I was expecting to go in and have the usual IBS talk, so had all my symptoms revised in my head to go through them again with the GP, then was told this and I was taken aback really, i didn't think to ask any questions. I know it's only a cyst, he said people can get them all the time but I'm actually a little scared? Not sure why. He said it can happen with your cycle, but I'm on the implant and didn't think to ask if this meant my cycle carries on and releases an egg. At least I have an answer now! Thanks everyone for your replies x

redhotbellpeppers · 26/01/2019 17:33

And regarding the last ultrasound, they said the cyst was way to tiny to be causing anything. With the recent one, they found it straight away and they now want to monitor, just read my post back and saw how that could be confusing.
