Why ok earth do I have fillings every time I go to the dentist
4 today Shock
I'm in my late twenties and have had 25 fillings altogether since the age of 21

I floss
I brush twice a day
I chew gum
I use mouthwash

What the hell is going on

I'm sick of fillings

Mrs Morton is quite correct. You may perceive your dentist to be "lovely" but, they are absolutely wrong with the advice they've given you.
Plenty of robust evidenced based research to refute your dentist's poor advice.
Am also a dentist 20+ years practising btw.
OP good dental health is a fine balance between diet and oral hygiene. Diet analysis will help, as Mrs Morton has advised.
The crux of Stephans curve is: teeth can cope with 3 acid attacks daily at breakfast ,lunch , dinner; thus make sure you consume all sugar ( including things like yoghurts , dried fruit etc ) at mealtimes only. Snacking is not good for your dental health. Period. But if you must snack: bread butter cheese ready salted crisps , fruit in its natural state is acceptable. Better not to snack though.
If you were my patient, I would consider prescribing you duraphat toothpaste as you seem to have a very high decay rate. This comes in 2 strengths and is either 2 or 4 x stronger than OTC toothpaste.

And don't brush your teeth for at least 30 mins after eating either for the reasons given by Tulips.

Have you tried using the Sugar smart app. It scans the bar code on most packaged foods/ snacks and shows how many teaspoons on sugar are in the food you have scanned. We all assume that you only find sugar in sweet food. A few goes with the app will be a real eye opener.

One final piece of advice OP re mouthwash; do not mouthwash/rinse immediately after toothbrushing with an optimal fluoride toothpaste. Just spit the excess toothpaste out and wipe mouth.

A good analogy is using suncream and then immediately showering & going out into the sun. No protection.

If you feel like you need to mouthwash, then do it at a completely separate time of the day to toothbrushing.

As I said earlier, I have simply shared my experience and what worked for me. It would be a huge coincidence for my issue not to have been vitamin d. I still have the same health problems as before and I have since been on the same medication with no tooth decay. The only thing that changed was my vitamin d level. My dentist believes this was the explanation and my GP was inclined to agree, (although she's pretty useless most of the time.) I will trust them rather than someone on the Internet.

My dentist is indeed lovely. Mrs Morton could have been more polite. If you read back, she stated I was wrong twice but deliberately didn't explain she was a dentist and then had a strop saying 'what would I know.', still not explaining she was a dentist. 🙄 She stated people don't take responsibility for their health or their children's and she found that so frustrating that she no longer sees patients. She can't control how people live. As a dentist it's her job to treat people, not judge. She can advise people to not eat sugar, how to brush etc but ultimately people will do what they like. She comes across as having a bad attitude and being judgemental. If a patient has made bad decisions, a dentist making them feel bad is only going to mean they won't address their oral hygiene and sugar intake. Sometimes oral health is affected by health issues. Not everyone is living on sweets and fizzy pop. And let's not forget, if everyone didn't eat sugar and brushed, flossed etc, dentists wouldn't be in demand and would make much less money.

This thread is a perfect example of why I don't offer my experience on here very often. I wish I hadn't bothered.

i would think that the lack of fluoride in the water probably is contributing to more decay in younger people.
