Wierd one.

So I've a growth blocking my throat. No one knows what it is and it's effecting my breathing and eating. My breathing to the extent that I can collapse and have developed sleep apnoea.

I saw a GP today who suggested I learnt consiously to breathe again as I'm struggling with over and under breathing.

Their exact words being "have a Google"

Confused

Any ideas? I've inhalers I can use for the asthma I have, sleep apnoea I've been told to try and sleep at a certain angle but I'm struggling when awake as the left side of my throat is blocked. I suffer with anxiety and depression too which isn't helping.

I'd appreciate any suggestions, I have googled but there's a lot of rubbish out there!

I had a scan done today took literally two minutes to be done. It dislodged whatever is happening and was uncomfortable and she insisted on talking to me which I couldn't do as I struggled to breathe as a result of needing to be fairly flat on my back with her scanning with slight pressure on my throat.

I think it's ok now, not 100% but have GP first thing so I can discuss with them.

Still working on my breathing. Still not as easy as it sounds!

Flowers good luck with the GP tomorrow. I hope you have a restful evening.

I saw a dr today who has really confused me.

They've said having stats at 100% on oxymonitor on my finger means I'm hyperventilating - no one has stats at 100% unless they're a small kid or on an oxygen mask. I don't understand as that only happens when doing measured breathing which I was told to do or when walking when my heart rate becomes tachycardic. They said buy a paper bag and breathe into it but that makes things much worse not better.

Should I stop doing the exercises and let it stay around 95-97? It's been dropping below 95 but apparently unless I have "genuine symptoms" of severe respiratory distress I'm to ignore that.

I don't understand. I still have the swollen tonsil I've been told to just ignore and yes the combination of that and my tongue will effect my breathing but the breathing techniques are making my oxygen levels too high for my body to cope Confused

I'm really confused about this.

95-97% O2 sats are good though Smile the doctor is trying to tell you that too much oxygen is a bad thing. Everyone drops below 95% at times, but it's fine as long as they come up again quickly. You wouldn't know if you weren't measuring.

Becca19962014 · 10/12/2018 21:55

It's not 95-97 most of the time without the breathing which makes it hit 100 though that's the point, though I didn't put it in my post as I forgot!

If I don't do the breathing exercises it's between 90 and 95 (sometime lower than 90 but they said I couldn't trust a oxygen finger meter for that). I was told to do the specific breathing exercises and aim for 100 as my hands and feet were blue tinged and it was too low.

I'm really confused now as it sounds like it's better I don't bother and put up with poor circulation/feeling ill instead.

Sorry my previous post was wrong. I've just read it back. Am really exhausted today. Last one is more accurate! With breathing it keeps hitting 100 and 95-97 without its no more than 95 and goes below 90 and my circulation is effected.

The exercises are gentle breathing. I'm not over breathing like was claimed as its equal in and out.

Without the breathing it doesn't come up but with it it hits 100 and when walking it hits 100 - I can't not walk and that's nothing to do with breathing it's to do with my autonomic disorder.
