STRANGE RED SPOTS AND BLOTCHES ON 10 MTH OLD

BandofMothers · 21/06/2007 08:53

Last night I noticed that dd2 had little red spots about this "0" size on her ears, the round shell part, and on her for arms, and one under each eye on her cheek.
They are gone this am, but whe I changed her nappy i noitced more and bigger blotches on the backs of her legs when I lifted them up. They mostly disappeared with a glass. Now have noticed the same spots under her lobes, on her neck.

Any ideas any one. Might take her to the docs. She is fine otherwise, but I thought it was wierd. Could she be being bitten by something?? I don't have them, and neither does DD1.

How strange my kids have exactly the same thing!! On and off for about a week. I thought the same, maybe bites but they dissapered so quickly.

When I came home from work yesterday the nanny said I've found some more of those spots, but when she went to show me they'd gone again!!!

Very weird, I thought maybe some kind of heat spots, be interested to see what other posters say.

BandofMothers · 21/06/2007 09:07

Me too. How strange, maybe it is heat, but she hasn't been sweatier than usual. She's quite a hot body anyway, esp in bed.

The ones on her ears seemed to have a centre, a little white one, but the others are just red.

Hi BOM - sounds like something ds had last summer. He woke up absolutely covered in them but no itching. They went within a day. We still don't know what they were but guess it was either an insect or severe heat reaction. I think we gave him a few cool baths during the day from what I remember.

Maybe take her to doc's anyway though for peace of mind?

RedTartanLass · 21/06/2007 09:11

Yes exactly and slightly raised!! Also in different places on diffrent days, maybe only 5 to 10 spots at a time?

DD is 18mths and DS2 is 3 yrs, will go and have a google.

BandofMothers · 21/06/2007 09:14

The other ones aren't raised at all.
And yes maybe 5 - 10 at a time.

Might ring doc for a call back.

And yes in dif places, the ones on her thighs tho are blotches.

BandofMothers · 21/06/2007 09:29

Hmmm, small spots on legs now too, in couple of hours since nappy change this morning.

DD has had spots too BoM, back of legs, lots around nappy area and trunk, and a few on arms.
look [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=138&threadid=342127 &stamp=070619193642 must be something in the air?]]

DDs appears to be clearing up, I have stopped using Huggies, but I cant be sure that was it, and I cant think what she might have eaten. Not heat rash as she has been in the tod a lot, and its not exactly warm here!
I shall continue to read with interest. Ang check her lobes too!

kerala · 21/06/2007 09:37

Have this too - blotches slightly raised on thigh of 11 month old. Other mums say excema (sp?) but dont think its that. They seem to go then come back again.

pavlovthecat · 21/06/2007 09:37

my link did not work
Might be different tho, as although they are raised, she has a few with little white heads too...

BandofMothers · 21/06/2007 09:38

None at all on trunk. Got a call back tonight after 5:30 to see what doc thinks and if I need to take her.
Not overly worried as she seems fine. They come and go within hours tho.

OP posts:
BandofMothers · 21/06/2007 09:39

They are not really coming back in the same place. Isn't excema dry too and flakey, or cracked and sore. Not excema, that usually attacks behind the knees and crooks of arms/wrists doesn't it??

pavlovthecat · 21/06/2007 09:40

just posted in tea shop too!
I think DDs might be wetwipes. as spots are mainly in areas where I would use them. I cahnged back to her old ones...
Oh, I dont know!
,

BandofMothers · 21/06/2007 09:46

Not wipes, haven't used them on her legs. Have on her arms and face tho, but they are the ones I usually use.
Very strange.

Just looked up heat rash on Google, def not like that

OP posts:
pavlovthecat · 21/06/2007 09:51

Its very strange isnt it? I wonder if it is the same thing?

RedTartanLass · 21/06/2007 09:51

Is a mystery though eh? I googled rash as well, not a good idea, when you're eating toast!!

Not overly worried to be truthful, LOs ok, just intereted, as it seems a few of our LOs have the same thing!!

RedTartanLass · 21/06/2007 09:53

pavlovthecat - x posts

BandofMothers · 21/06/2007 09:58

Shall I let you all know what the doc says??

OP posts:
pavlovthecat · 21/06/2007 10:03

RTL - same as me, curious more than worried. It does not appear to be causing any trouble. I am hoping its Huggies as it means DP wont be tempted by special offers again!

pavlovthecat · 21/06/2007 10:03

Yes BoM let us know

BandofMothers · 25/06/2007 08:47

Am going to take her today if can get an app.

Look like bites to me, and she's still getting them.

OP posts:
BandofMuggles · 27/06/2007 19:50

Doc said only thing that would keep coming and going in dif places was allergy.
Then I remembered I had started to give her peanut butter the week before

KathH · 27/06/2007 21:22

another mum here with a spotty child - ds has suddenly had a line of about 5 or 6 spots on the front of one leg & then exactly the same at the back of his other leg. Some of the spots feel a bit sort of crusty at the top - I thought it might be chicken pox but he's had it before & the spots havent got any worse or expanded to anywhere else.
