Any dentists able to advise?

My elderly mother - in her 90's - is lucky to have almost all her own teeth (bar a few crowns) but her bottom teeth have got very sharp and jagged and she's getting increasingly distressed by this. It bothers her a lot and she often complains that they cut her tongue.

Her dentist says he can't do anything about it. Apparently the teeth are quite fragile so can't be filed or smoothed down in any way, and there's no other solution.....can this be right?

I don't really know what to do. I've bought her some of that wax you can put on painful braces, which she says helps a bit, but is obviously only a temporary fix. DM is just so bothered by it, though.

Any dentists out there who've come across anything like this? I'd be grateful for any answers!

Not a dentist but I do work in the industry. Honestly, see a different dentist. No way that they can't do anything to help your mum with that issue.
