How much do you drink?

oxocube · 29/08/2004 17:17

Why do you want to quit?

carla · 29/08/2004 17:20

Thanks for replying, FF. About a bottle of vodka a day. Help! Went to AA 3 weeks ago, promised myself I would'nt have a drink after A's birthday on Wednesday, then treated myself to a fit on Saturdat

Carla, do a search in the archives section. There was a thread, poss last year, from someone in a similar position and I know lots of people contributed to it. It might give you somewhere to start before others reply to your message. Love oxo xxx

oxocube · 29/08/2004 17:24

Didn't read your reply to 'how much?' until after I'd posted. Didn't mean to be crass

oxocube · 29/08/2004 17:30

Carla, the thread was from last November and is by Ghengis. Sorry, can't do links but it is under the health section in archived messages. When I asked why you wanted to stop, I just meant that for some M/Netters, 2 glasses of wine a day, every day, feels like a problem. Of course I now understand the reasons why you are so worried.

carla · 29/08/2004 17:36

FFS, Oxo .. I feel like just ... getting on that Coach.

And yesterday, when I had to get a pressie for Anna's party to go to, I even had a chat with a Big Issue seller. And then a Chinese Methodist. Imagine how I felt this morning.

Carla, you might try Smart Recovery . When and if aloha sees this, she'll start in on cognitive behavioural therapy as an alternative to AA. Smart Recovery is based on that.

So I'm agreeing with a possible future post... but I hope it helps you.

carla · 29/08/2004 18:05

Does anyone think it might be a good idea for dh to post??

OP posts:
carla · 29/08/2004 18:12

JJ, how could you be so kind?

OP posts:
Fairyfly · 29/08/2004 18:15

You've lost me on the big issue seller and the chinese methodist

JJ · 29/08/2004 18:16

It's a really helpful site. Check out the online forum and post your situation there.

But if you've already been drinking tonight, I'd wait until tomorrow to do it. The links will still be here.

carla · 29/08/2004 18:23

FF, went yesterday to get pressie for dd's pal... then got roped into them

OP posts:
carla · 29/08/2004 18:26

Will anyone be brave enough to speak to DH?

OP posts:
Fairyfly · 29/08/2004 18:30

Do you want someone to explain to him what you are drinking? I'm sorry, i can't keep up with this thread at all.

carla · 29/08/2004 18:34
