go to casualty get a cab if you have to

nickytwotimes · 19/06/2007 20:06

if no swelling or "deformity" it is unlikely to be broken. put ice on it and rest it. only way to get an x ray is a and e - you can go anytime though - providing someone else there for dcs! could be ligament or tendon damage which hurts like hell!!!
can you take ibuprofen? if it is safe for you, take 400 mg every 6 hours with some food to help.

lou33 · 19/06/2007 20:08

i dont know, my kids have broken bones and there has been no swelling to see

but you do need to get it checked out

lou33 · 19/06/2007 20:09

is it dislocated ?

nickytwotimes · 19/06/2007 20:09

agree, it wants checking, but take a book to a and e...
tissue damage just as painful as a break - done both - v. accident prone!

lou33 · 19/06/2007 20:11

where do you live? can someone have the kids while you get a cab or a lift?

BettySpaghetti · 19/06/2007 20:11

Would a friend or neighbour sit with the children whilst you get a taxi to A&E and then DP can meet you there ?

jofeb04 · 19/06/2007 20:12

Thanks,
Not sure how to tell if it is dislocated

Dh has rang, leaving work for me, he's told me we're going to a and e.

good luck jofeb.

lou33 · 19/06/2007 20:13

good, hope it's ok

a dislocation would present as the shoulder (for example) having slipped out of it's socket, so it would look out of place

lou33 · 19/06/2007 20:14

take some painkillers now for hte journey in case the bumping about hurts

jofeb04 · 19/06/2007 20:17

It's not dislocated, so that's one ting out of they way!

Taken co-codamol (strong ones - perscription type), so hoping its going to take the edge off it!

squeeze the tips of your fingers on that arm for 5 seconds and watch closely to see if the red colour comes back in within two seconds. If there's any delay, get to hospital as a dislocation can affect blood flow and be serious.

Don't mean to alarm you just thinking worst case senario.

good luck

AbRoller · 19/06/2007 20:19

sorry X-post

jofeb04 · 19/06/2007 20:20
