Scared it’s cervical cancer

A year ago I experienced bleeding after sex, visited a gynocologist and was treated for CIN2 and told I had an ectropion. The bleeding is back and I’m terrified. What if it’s cancer this time? I know thinking like that doesn’t help but getting through this weekend is going to be so hard.

It’s most likely to be ectropion- it does grow back and treating it only stops the bleeding for a short time. I’ve had mine burned away twice and it’s back again.

Thanks Jelly do you know if can come back so soon after treatment? And if treatment doesn’t work am I ever going to have an enjoyable sex life? It’s really heavy bleeding and pain for a few days afterwards.

I think it can come back within a few months? I’m not 100% sure but I know it can - I had bleeding in early pregnancy which I attributed to ectropion! Have you been having regular smears?

TootingBoots · 10/11/2018 11:28

Yes had clear smears in June and last May. I’m just struggling to trust them because even though I had a normal smear last May I was bleeding after sex and by December I was diagnosed with CIN2 and had LLETZ so smears don’t seem to be accurate for me!

I’d try and take comfort from the fact that you had a clear smear in June and just go to the Gp on Monday. Flowers

I asked one of those stupid ask a doctor sites about what it could be (and paid £15 for the privilege) they basically told me I must have had lots of unprotected sex with multiple partners (wrong) and that it was likely to be cervical cancer. I’m now a sobbing wreck, l

OP - CIN2 isn't even close to cancer. You were treated as a precaution because otherwise it might have developed into cancer over a period of years or it might not have done. Please ignore the charlatan who took £15 off you to insult and scare you and ring your own GP tomorrow and insist on being seen soon because this is really upsetting you.
