Coccyx pain 5 months after birth

It was really painful at first but after a while just hurt and it still hurts now. I plan to see the gp but wondered if anyone knew why it would still hurt this long after the birth or had the same happen to them? It's more painful when sitting in a certain position and I discovered at the weekend that I can't ride my bike at all because it's too painful. Any ideas what gp will do?

If your gp is anything like mine, then probably nothing unless you make a real fuss ...

I have had coccyx pain since pg with ds (he's now nearly 5), and only now that I'm pg with no. 2, and have been signed off work as I'm a health & safety liability (on crutches in a school, not a good idea!), have I found out what I should do.

I suggest that you ask your GP to refer you to the Women's Health physio - this is what I have finally been able to do, and, while she's told me there's nothing she can do about the coccyx pain while I'm still pg, she'll have a go at sorting me out once babe is here.

It's literally a PITA! You have my deepest sympathies - and be warned you may have to be very bolshy to get yourself a referral.

Good luck!

I'd also add that some people have found chiropractic very helpful for coccyx pain - it did nothing for me, but I know that it's helped others.

I've found that acupuncture has been very good for pain relief ...

Thank you for that. I hope you can get sorted out after the birth, it's horrible isn't it. I could try the chiropractor to see if that helped. I'm sure I can get the gp to refer me, they are generally quite good there.
