Itchy area on outer labia

I am intending getting an appointment for this as soon as I can but in the meantime, I wanted to ask if anyone has any idea what this could be?

I have an itchy area on my right outer labia, to the right of the clitoris. It gets itchy on and off and every so often, the area peels. It looks a little red and the skin feels a bit thick. It started maybe about three months ago and I think it is worse with heat.

I've made myself scared it is vulvar cancer thanks to typing in my symptoms to Google. Does anyone know what this might be?

This happens to me sometimes. I usually put some canestan cream on or a cortisone cream (not sure if I'm meant to....). It does settle down. Have you tried a long soak in the bath with some tea tree oil?

It's probably something minor - eczema or dermatitis from washing powder, blocked hair follicle etc.
But no one can really reassure you here - you really need a dr to assess and make a referral if needed.
I have had vulva cancer btw, and it was extremely painful, so much so that I'd wake up at night in pain. So, it's probably nothing to get too worried about. It's easy to say now, but Dr Google is terrible for making you think the worst!

I would say it's localised eczema. I used to get this (before menopause). I got a steroid ointment from the GP called betnovate. I only needed a tiny bit each time, and it would stop the itching straightaway. It was worse just after a period, or funny enough alcohol used to make it flare up esp white wine! Also the perfumed sanitary stuff made it worse, as did some shampoos or conditioners in the shower. Canesten didn't help it.
It was the exact same as you describe, the area peeling, and sometimes red and seemed to be thickened. Go to the GP and end your misery.

I have this and have always assumed it's eczema, it seems to flare up in the same patch every time.

Hydrocortisone seems to help.

Eczema, lichen simplex and seborrhoeic dermatitis are all possibilities. None of them dangerous or cancerous. Suspect your GP will prescribe some kind of topical steroid cream which will do the trick

Genital psoriasis

Have had this for years. Switch to Sanex 0% perfume free shower gel, use soap free detergent on underwear and basic loo roll, no perfumes. I use Daktakort cream when it's bad.
