Swollen optic discs/nerves

Hi,
My husband went for a yearly eye test at Specsavers yesterday. He was told he had swollen optic nerves, the optician checked the previous eye tests and it was the same last year. Because there was no change, she wasn't concerned. But I googled and now I'm concerned!!!!
He had a VFT which was fine, but I'm not sure he did it properly.
He has no headaches etc, no nausea.
Can anyone give advice.
Thanks very much

Rest assured that had it been a need he would have been referred. Opticians have saved many a life in this way. You could always mention your concerns to the optician for clarification.

I had an eye test at Specsavers and it showed I have a swollen optic nerve in one eye. They did an urgent referral to the eye specialist (which means it will take a few months) I don't have headaches or pain when I move my eye but if I do then I have to go straight away.
You can have this without it being sinister but if you're at all concerned you should either go back or go to a different optician.

It may well be pseudopapilloedema, which basically means that the discs look swollen but aren't due to a number of anatomical differences in the eye. It's great that they were able to look at previous photos and see that its unchanged.

I wouldn't worry.
