I took the DCs to teh dentist today and it was 2 year old DD's first visit. The dentist commented that it was the first time he'd ever seen a C tooth not having grown through. DD wasn't overly happy in the chair so he said he wouldn't Xray but just made a note on her records.

Shoudl I be concerned? Has this happened to anyone else's child perhaps?

TIA

My daughter had baby teeth that never came through. She had xrays when she was a little older and this showed that the teeth were in fct missing, not there to grow through in the first place. The other teeth grew closer together and out of line, basically, into the spaces that the missing teeth should have filled. This all resulted in orthodontic work when she was older. She has a beautiful set of teeth now

Im sorry, this may be of no help to you at all. What I would advise is that you ring your dentist and ask him to explain. You shouldn't be left to worry about this.

thanks TimeforMe.
I'm glad your daughter's teeth are lovely now. Was it all a bit traumatic though getting them sorted?

My dd never grew any upper lateral inscisors (the ones next to the canines). As she has just got her adult teeth and consequently is missing those adult ones too, the orthodontist is keeping an eye on the situation. If the gaps don't fill natuarally, she may need orthodontic work at a later stage.
I wouldn't worry just yet, in your dd's case there may be no need for intervention and if it is indeed necessary, probably won't be for many years. Hopefully by then, advancements will have been made to make it all alot more pleasant!

thanks summer111. I keep telling myself there is bugger all I can do about it (I can't make the tooth grown through can i? ) so i might as well stop fretting but it's hard isn't it?
