We think ds2 had had migraines since he was v young, almost a baby. He's grown up now and rarely gets them these days.

I started migraines at around your dd's age, maybe 10yo. I had some during my teens then they went away until I was 30-ish and I've had them ever since.

The migraine charity has some useful tips.www.migraine.org.uk/

Tappy, like Suedonim I had my first migraine at around 10 years of age. They were particularly bad during my teens and 20s.

Has your dd been prescribed any medication?

AbbyLou · 18/06/2007 16:32

I still get them now but I started around 6 or 7. I used to wake up with the headache in the morning, throw up mid morning and be fine to go to school in the afternoon! I had a very active life as a child and went to many different sporting/dance clubs in the evenings. The hv told my mum to give me a biscuit before bed on the nights when I was out doing activities and it worked a lot of the time. I think the problem was I was getting home from school, having an early tea and then going out doing physical activity. My blood sugar would drop and that was causing the migraine. It may be worth a try with your dd - I do feel for her, migraines are so horrible.

I agree with what AbbyLou says about making sure blood sugar is stable. Daughter suffered very badly with abdominal migraine when very young and we discovered that one of the major triggers was low blood sugar - once we ensured she had a couple of slices of toast before bed the early morning ones stopped completely.

My dd gets them tappy - she started with them at around 10 and although she has no periods yet I think they may be hormone triggered. I'm hoping when she starts the migraines will settle a little
